I would guess that now Lidl accept credit cards it wont be long before Aldi do.WWSD(what would Scooby Doo)0 -
I hate these places like the Range who have a min spend on credit cards and yet places like the Pound shop you can pay with a min amount.
I used to work in a charity shop and was surprised at the people who came in and bought £1.98 worth of stuff, then demanded to use a credit card!0 -
I've no idea who 'Range' are but Pound Shop are quite a large chain.
Large chains have a lot more clout when dealing with the card companies and, whilst they cannot avoid the cost of providing credit and cashback, they will undoubtedly be able to negotiate very favourable deals for the actual processing charges which will obviate the need for minimum spend.
You may have heard that American Express charge more to merchants for the use of their cards but can bet your life that people like Tesco and M & S do not pay any more than they do for Visa and Mastercard. It is far more important to AmEx that they be accepted in the large chains than it is for the large chains to be able to accept AmEx.
Most major retailers have their own card handling services, so they actually don't loose out on merchant fees (although they still have card fees to absorb).
You used to see signs in retailers saying something like "2.5% of card sales goes to [Retailer] Card Handling Ltd. The price you pay is the same regardless of payment method", or something of that ilk.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. A great shame for hardcore money savers as Aldi will have to increase their prices to pay towards the credit, meaning that those who do not need credit will not be able to avoid subsidising those who do.There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
