Maybe something similar to Costco / American Express setup would benefit Aldi, the credit card company and the consumers too.
Costco don't accept credit cards in their stores in England, except for American Express which they issue with their branding on.
I do not know what happens in Costco stores in Scotland and Wales.
I do not know if there is a Costco store in Berwick upon Tweed in England.
I hear M&S only accepted M&S Credit cards some time ago lol!0 -

It's not long ago Aldi only accepted good old fashioned cash only with staff having to manually type memorised prices into the till.0

I tried to pay in aldi for some gardening stuff by credit card, not realising that they didn't accept them.
