Best "It" "The" phone to have?

It's amazing how much hatred and misinformation there is regarding iPhones.
Last time I checked, they weren't the biggest seller - no, everyone wants a Samsung these days. So my advice is buy a Samsung, they are perfect, you can sing their praises and never be accused of being a fanboy.the S5 is going to be spectacular.
I am only advising the OP to do the research and make his own decision.
We all have different needs when using a smartphone.
My point is not to just get an iphone because everybody else they know has one, buy it because that is the phone that best suits their needs.
In the last couple of years I have regularly used the iphone 4 , the Galaxy S3 and the HTC One.
I am willing to give any of them a try and then make an informed decision.
My current phone the HTC One has the best build quality of any phone to-date and its modified version of Android is a great improvement however I am not saying that everything about it is "the best".
I have tried the Galaxy S4 and I think it is probably better from a technical point of view however it retains that "plastic" feel about it.
I am not an iphone hater just as I am not an HTC lover, I like the HTC One , I may not like their next top of the range phone.....I keep an open mind and will do my research again next time I want to change my phone.
Try www.anandtech.com if you want some really in-depth reviews of all the top phones. ( American Website )0 -
You will get as many different answers as people who answer probably......
Have you played with any in store to see which you OS you prefer? What features are important? These days Android users are just as bad as iPhone users in getting you to buy in to their reasons for liking the OS. So decide what you want from a phone then make your OS choice.
If you like Android try-
-the Nexus 5
-the Motorola MOTO G.
Nexus 5 is vanilla Android with no bloatware that the manufacturers put on to 'help' you (read - get you to use their app store, services, etc), and MOTO G is very very near to that. The Nexus 5 is about as good spec wise as you will find, and the MOTO G is about the best budget Android phone around (ie it has very good specs and isn't the rubbish that a lot of manufacturers throw at the market to get market share). You may like other manufacturers extra software, who knows! Also try diff handsets for feel. Samsung is a bit plastic fantastic, as said above, and HTC has some premium feels devices.
If you like iOS try-
-whichever iPhone you like/can afford. Stay away from the 4 as it is reaching the stage that some apps don't support it.
If you like Windows phone-
-get the best resolution, memory size, and processor you can. Nokia covers the whole range and is 'the' WP manufacturer, though Samsung and HTC have a small range.0 -
iPhones are good to use and easy to manage. They can be repaired economically by backstreet menders unlike many cheap Android phones. But iPhones are looking very expensive indeed these days when compared to say, the new under £150 all singing Moto G (or even as little as £100 on some deals).0

Please tell me where you managed to get such a cheap i phone 4s - my DD and DS would like an iphone for xmas...I think having a phone/camera/music player all in one is a good idea. I would prefer they got an android (as I personally think they are better) but they obviously want to keep up with their friends! They have in the past, saved up for ipods/ipad and mobile phone so for once we'd like to indulge them. My husband considered a contract phone for both as it makes sense as we're currently paying for their payg phones but I would be concerned about them losing/breaking the phone and leaving us with a long contract to pay and no phone!! (would imagine added insurance would be expensive).0 -
You can get iPhones for a good price if you keep your eyes open.
Apple will also replace a broken one for something like the above amount.0 -

Worried Jim obviously bought his used. Provenance is v important then, as a previous owner can suddenly register it as stolen and permanently lock it out of UK networks.0 -

Apple Store, a friend traded in her old one which was broken but for £130 on top I was given a brand new one.0 -
You would seriously have to see IOS as a must to buy the iPhone 5C for £350 more than the Moto G.

Shows how much of a profit Apple are making on each phone to be able to sell a £500+ phone for £130 (plus the money received from breaking down the broken phone for parts)0
