Trousers made from artificial fibres can be just as cold as a skirt or dress.
Not if you're wearing silk long johns underneath ...

Was just going to mention thermals! If it's really cold, then I would have no problem with wearing them under a pair of trousers, which by the way, I would feel so much more comfortable in than a dress.

I wore a dress for my BIL's wedding, and I didn't feel comfortable, but then again, I am so not a dress person.
  • I wore smart trousers to my brother's wedding. Still felt cold, though :rotfl:

I'm going to request people get married when it's a bit warmer outside :D

    I think trousers are fine.
But you can get some lovely thick, warm tights that are quite stylish on the outside.

Have we gone back to the 1920s or something?

These days there are women who even - shock horror - wear trousers to their own wedding!

I'm amazed that the question is even asked.

I bought a gorgeous, dressy trouser suit in Macy's, USA, especially for a wedding.

Black trousers, sapphire blue top and matching jacket in a slightly shiny fabric.

    I hope I looked smart.

Brides have warn trouser suits so I don't understand what could be wrong with attending one in a trouser suit. They come in many forms as do wedding dresses

I think a smart trouser suit or Trousers and top is fine for a wedding! whatever the season. I live in the Welsh Valleys and most of the older folk are quite traditional, and I have NEVER heard any adverse comments about ladies in trousers!

Hopefully the OP will come back and let us know if his wife's outfit was acceptable.
