I am confused, I have been reading for about 3 days now that the Nexus 7 wifi 2013 version is getting the OTA update to KitKat - mine isn't. I see that the 'official' KitKat software is available for download from Google - so where is the OTA update? Am I missing something?

Have you manually checked for the update by going into "Settings" and "About" ? Alternatively, you can do a manual download and install by connecting to your Windows or Apple computer. Not something to try though if you are slightly nervous about the chance of bricking your device.0

It might take a few days or even a week or so to roll out to all devices!
Google have a habit of doing it in batches rather than have every single device trying to download the update at the same time.
Give it a few more days it will get to you eventually!
I just manually updated my 2012 Nexus7 could not be bothered waiting ^_^Laters

Was it worth it?0

I wiped my device before updating (was going to install another ROM but decided to install the update)
I've not had much time to pay around with it but at first glance it's fast and has office app pre installed as well as a remote print app for my HP printer. so that was nice!! ^_~
might not be using it much as I won a nexus 7 2013 last night from the kit kat (the chocolate ones) promotion packs ^_^Laters

I have been manually checking a couple of times a day. Just seems rather strange that the download is 'officially' available but the OTA isn't. I thought one of the selling points was that as soon as G announced it, it was available (propagated!)0

try rebooting the nexus7. it can sometimes trigger the update if it's available.Laters

Update is release = officially available .
Updates then roll-out slowly worldwide otherwise the servers crash .0 -
I'm waiting for an idiots update for rooted tablets. Last time I did an OTA update it lost root and they'd blocked the rooting method that didn't put you back to factory defaults. I don't trust myself to update it manually retaining root and avoiding having to reinstall everything.0

Reading XDA it does not look like its on the OTA servers yet .
Upgrade and Root
As root Kills OTA then i would look to a CWM flashable pre rooted zip of the update when it arrives .0 -
OTA to 4.3 worked for me last time on a rooted tablet but it killed the root. I'd used the method which doesn't unlock the bootloader to avoid having to reinstall everything but that mechanism was apparently blocked in 4.3. I re-rooted it but the backup in the process only partially worked and I ended up with a lot of work to set it all up again as I wanted.
I don't make any pretence of understanding what's involved I just follow the idiot guides.0
