Dinner was a, I'll use the word delicious loosely, risotto of left over dips and little left over mince beef and two sliced up sausages which was out, a bendy leek and half a bag of almost over spinach.

Man I know how to live. It was oddly creamy and yet meaty too.

DD went back for seconds so it can't have been too mank.

The fridge is looking less overpopulated.

I had a good route about and put the fish nearing use by date in the freezer as well as a portion of mash (LT Hates mash).

Nothing else may die in there on my watch but I did notice we don't have any carrots.

I'm not sure we need carrots though.

And I'm out later picking up DD in the squalls so I can pop in and peruse the reduced section for suitable bargains.

I had a wee tidy this morning and noticed that we were out of most of the toiletries and laundry stuff. So I popped into the 'almost pound land' (Its 1.20 land cos of the extra ferry costs) and got a heap of stuff for both bathrooms, the washing and dogs/etc and tea bags etc for the tea wifey for the next month or so - £19.20 spent must add to list.

I also have to take back a bag of cheese later - its grated (work cheese ) and gone a bit mouldy- as its dated until 20th Dec - that can go back later. Its been stored properly so that's not good.

Petrol was work today so that's good.

And, I did not only my learning factory time sheet and put that in (21 hours I'll get mid Dec)

    I ALSO updated my cv
Registered for a Hort job site
Applied for a six month free membership of prof hort body
Applied for a mentoring programme ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ for them too.

Slow and steady progress but its all positive.

Thanks for the bit of a boot I've been needing. I know trying to pay off 7k in about 7 months is a bit insane but with you lot, I'm sure its achievable to get close to it at least and take the pressure off when I move..

Off to catch up over a few fences - fires on and I've only chores left to do.............lets see how many I can avoid.

  • Well done on the payments and also on the job-hunt-related progress! You seem to be steaming ahead! In the time it takes me to think about perhaps getting around to doing something, you've already done several things!

Wet and dreary here today. Looking at car insurance comparison; is it worth switching to some organisation I've never heard of to save 40 quid, or should I stick to the tried and tested?

Fridge and freezer raid for tea here as well - stir fry with last of a tub of cherry tomatoes, a 10p bag of mange tout and some reduced prawns from the freezer (plus lots of chopped ginger, also frozen). Then I think it might be time to light our first fire of the year (OH swept the chimney last weekend - and this time didn't get the brush stuck )

    Fridge/freezer forage sounding great Trog.

As to the insurance - can you check out the other company - £40 is a fair bit to save but only if you're happy.

I'm rubbish I've been putting fires on most of the summer although not everyday. Today's getting up a hooley.

    :)

Flight booked from Dads to Aunty Wiks for DS to join the honeymoon :)

Flight booked from windy isle to DD stepsisters for her to join her papa enfrance for xmas.

You'd think we'd actually needed to eat carbon in this house. Be a relief when we're not all trying to fly back and forth to Scotland (the mainland of Scotland) to 'do' stuff.
    Its blinking expensive

  • OK so I took the cheese to the wrong shop and got a refund before they rumbled me - yes I got collared leaving the shop and headed home with no money (can you believe they took my refund back - doh!) and some mouldy cheese.

I did however explain when I was getting my refund that I'd shopped in two shops for work and had both receipts out.

Did think it was funny she couldn't find the cheese on their system.

Needless to say DD's eye rolling came into Olympic effect.

Might pop along to the RIGHT shop today when in town for work.

You shouldn't really let me out. And, yesterday I'd applied for professional membership of an organisation - dear dear dear. Perhaps membership of the loony bin be more appropriate.

    Have a good un.

RT has picked up the important bit, I see :T

RT - stilton is allowed, on account of its being wonderful. And steak is also allowed, because you like it :rotfl:

No idea what I'll be having for Christmas dinner - pine nut something or other, very probably.

Pippi, the diary really has focussed you, hasn't it! Those PADs are brilliant.

I went out today to pick "my" sloes - nothing there. Absolutely nothing - the bushes must know that there's housebuilding nearby, and their days are numbered :( however, what I did find out is that my wellies are leaking like crazy - whats a good quality welly? I remember you talking about Hunters, but they're a *lot* of dosh, aren't they? These have lasted less than 3 years, and I only use them half a dozen times a year, so not impressed :(
2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • Only thing to say about the cheese and that's "Trust you!" - I can imagine DD's Olympic sized eye rolling too! ;)

GREAT progress with everything there though - as others have said you really are flying ahead.

Trog - on the car insurance try googling "[insert name of company] speed paying out on claims" and see what comes up - too fast and they may not fight your corner enough, but equally too slow or lots of related problems and you don't want to go there!

  • I know I'm a divot.

I did however return the cheese to the right place today and now have a bag which isn't mouldy.

Work expensed trip to town today
Two beaches walked with the hounds
    HM lunch taken in
    A NSD

So far, so good. Home now, washing is a whirring I need to sort fire, fill up wood and crack on with some paperwork once I'm warmed up.

:) hope you're all splendid and not in the habit of returning cheese unless its crucial.

So the fires cleared out and on
    The wood baskets are refilled
The household bins and recycling has been done
Washing which is dry is folded up as machine is whirring to be emptied in a bit again
And the coffee is a steaming beside me.

Now for this afternoons chores life admin
Phone insurance folks regarding fruit pad and make sure they don't laugh to hard when I said I accidentally watered it.
Set up banking with cc via the card reader thing - its in my hand
Check out options for heading down to Aunty McB-Wik before xmas
Check the folks who wanted to have peedie for xmas are still OK
Scour credit card statement and find out WHY its gone up so much - I have an inkling its

    - travel lots of it this year and whilst I budget for it I think this years is a lot more
    - cash flow being erratic hence using the card for the expenses and using the cash paid in expenses for 'cash/dds' instead of putting it to card as wages are often weeks before being paid.
-toerag children who cost far more than you suspect I'm adding them both up and seeing how much damage they individually and collectively cause my finances.
    - general frippery - must see what I'm spending on treats be them food/dvds or whatever gardening tool/book takes my eye.

  • Apple and I are not friends - neither am I friends with my house insurers.

Bah. £250 excess on insurance. Fruitpad at birth was top of range but now given technology etc probabaly get better device (not fruity) for less than the excess.

Fruitpad was present from beloved. Am attached to silly thing. I wonder if I can get it repaired - off to ponder.

On the positive bank set up for CC now £50 PAD today.
