    £1,400.00 CC balance. ;D

    Wages showing but not cleared.

    All DD's off this month.
Need to identify last dd's for next month/balances.

BT - £56 - dd due out 15th then on hold til we reconnect it
Electric - £35 (ish) waiting for final statement canceled DD will just pay
Car - 206.74 June/July last payment tax due in July too (£30).
Mobile - £25 - thinking of cancelling this but not sure. (19th month)
    Ipad - £10 (15th)
DS - £100 due to stop once he's started work in summer. (12th)

Ponders other spends and whether or not to think about shedding an account - I had two due to the kids keeping self employed money away from 'family' money.

I prob don't need two accounts anymore either. Not that they cost much but £6 overdraft a month charge I can prob do without.

Ponders some more. I see a financial overhaul coming up. But not immediately we both said we'd move forward slowly and give ourselves 3 months to see how life settles when we're living together.

    Speaking of which.

OK as dearest KC would say lets have a vote.

Do I pay off the CC this month, what's your honest opinion. Too ambitious or go for it and eat toast during June.

    Card stands at 1400
450 cash winging its way back from paying other silly card which is clear which is destined for this card.
which will leave a 950 balance remaining
This months wages can happily cover it but leave things a bit squeaky, although doable.

But its the last full wage I'm expecting, from now on these will be much less *around a quarter.

I may not go with the consensus but do value hearing your opinions.

    :D

    Ay up Pipster

    I don't think I really have an opinion one way or t'other with the card repayment. One thing is for certain, you have REALLY hammered them before your big move - that is a tremendous feat and I think that your *friends in the box* recognise that, and hopefully, we've applauded you for it. I think it comes down to;

    is it important to you to have nowt on the cards, fullstop or;

is it important to you to start the your new chapter financially in control and actively in charge of your outgoings and incomings. Using your 'nowse' and things you've picked up along the way and from here, will you remain in control and pay off any debts, by being financially savvy, but maybe in a longer timeframe?

The thing that I came on to comment on, was actually your post about food shopping. Whilst in your new life, there will obviously be food shopping :D I wonder, will it be so important? You're not going to ditch your 'bargain bug' - course you ain't :D But you will have a garden that is YOURS to actively do with what you want - not what a landlord will allow. You have talked about having work that revolves around producing for farmers markets, you will have chickens. I think that your *sources* of food are going to change, (although I still see 'barter' in your future :D) are the SM's really going to have such a strong pull? You are so good at making meals by pulling a few things together, I think that you may well find that your food bill begins to fall....... just a thought :D

Do what suits you Pips - we won't judge, but you will have to accept - and forgive us :o - if we continue to applaud your efforts like mad :D:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T

If it were me, I would slaughter the card, but accept that I might need to use it for e.g. food shopping towards the end of the month if things got too squeaky.

Thanks guys Greying of course you're right I'd not thought about that side of things its been so long since I'd grown very much of my own food. And of course had chooks.

I'm hoping (fingers crossed) we have chooks within the first week and certainly before the local eggs I'm taking with me run out.

Thanks for popping by, you always make me think a bit out of the box.

Caz - good point. I think if they're clear I need to make sure and pay off the total balance each month from now on if I need to use them at all.

Mara - its with the help of lovely folks like you who keep the essential spends down (and I am thinking welly's here) :)

Having a wee break over lunch at work and catching up.

    Hello :)

I am pondering a similar plan re having the cards paid off by the end of year. I was hoping to pay back a lot this month, to meet my 100days debt challenge but that hasn't exactly worked! I didn't twig that in my last month of work I wouldn't be paid a full wage so am a bit worried about meeting August 's expenses. there is still time for creative accounting and bank robbery!

I understand totally the feeling of wanting it paid and in your position I would do it and be prepared to think I might have to use it in an emergency. It would be lovely to move to new house without debt.

I have back ache so sorry if this is a bit short and to the point. xxxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.

    Right here we go again.

So I know I had this crazy goal to try and pay off the cards before I flitted 'sooth'.

A few things I have discovered on the way (which we all knew but never pointed out as we're all far too polite).

I'm quite seriously addicted to food shopping. It gives me pleasure creating delights and scoffing too.

I'm wondering if I harness this in a positive way.

When I was little (er, I'm quite little, lets say younger.) my favourite times were talking into the town with my mum and grannie three times a week for 'the messages'. I have hence recognised my grannie was a fit auld bird.

I love the 'oohing' and the 'ahhing' and the bargain hunting that food shopping provides on a regular basis.

To be honest whilst I've had more time due to lack of food shopping these past months I've kinda missed the excitement of it.

(Don't judge me, I'm quite odd.)

Anyhows - it got me thinking when we move we do need a keen meal planner going (shoot me now, I know I don't like meal planning but it works) as we'll have little left for frippery.

So if I get me stores in order once 'shifted' can I indulge myself and my little (new and gorgeous) orkney shopping basket in a bit of not quite daily but regular few times a week 'fresh' shopping and bargain hunting.

We've proven to ourselves we can happily live under £100 or around that figure for groceries.

I wonder if that's the way for me to indulge but keep the frugality.

    Ponders.

I think that sounds like a good wee plan :D
