Hugs all round lady - there will be another piano along when the time is right I'm sure, and at least "that book" sitting on its music stand is no longer nagging at you, right?! :D

Also hope you're feeling a bit brighter by now - definitely outside the lands of fairness to be feeling grim through your birthday week.

Morning Pippi I hope you feel a bit more perky today!

Yesterday little DD and I planted out some bean plants (I know they should be gradually ‘hardened off’ but that’s a luxury my seedlings rarely get a chance to experience!) There isn’t a lot ofspace so first I had to dig out a giant plant of ‘perpetual spinach’ left from last year. It was just about to go to seed but had loads of fresh young leaves so that decided our menu plan for supper! Then we forked over the soil ready to plant out the little bean plants. Little one, scrutinizing the freshly-exposed soil, squealed excitedly and pointed each time she spotted something, and there were a surprising number of things to spot, we saw worms of course, lots of different kinds of woodlice, two different species of shield bug, an earwig, a snail that obligingly emerged from its shell and started sliding away, an enormous slug (not keen on those)and most unexpected of all, a newt! And little one carefully dropped a bean plant into each hole I made and managed not to bend or tread on any!

    So today Pippi I'm a mini-beast geek!

Gorgeous plant it was too - and yes, definitely return with the "serious kit" - that needs some up-close shots I think! :T Hoping to take mine to photograph Kingfishers this afternoon but the light's looking grim.

Trog - mini-beasting is always fun - I'm fascinated by shield bugs - we never seemed to get them in this bit of the country until a few years ago but now always find a few around each summer. Ladybirds too - love a ladybird! :T

We've got masses of primula scotica on the hill on the other side of the beach. The local ranger reckons I have a decent chance of getting some in my bottom field now that it's being grazed down over winter and allowed to grow in summer. He's advised me that if I want to help the process along a bit, it's illegal to dig up a plant, but not illegal to go and pick up a few fallen seedheads later on in the year ;)
