Cashback has finally been added to my account and I hope to receive a cheque in a couple of weeks. Even though my account should have been closed (as I didn't apply for the new 0.5% card) they have sent me new terms and conditions which still state cashback at 3% may be earned on purchases (section 11.1)!

    Well bumped!

I wondered what had happened to this thread - I thought it might have been deleted.

We have all been discussing recent events in this other Aqua thread here:

Mine too. Balance reduced accordingly so they now owe me money rather than the other way round, hence I'm assuming I don't need to pay anything and I will receive a cheque for the balance.

The way all this has been organised and communicated is absolutely shocking. My wife was told earlier last week that the cashback would be credited to the account and could be used in part payment for her final balance. Then on Friday she was told the cheques had gone out on the 17th and that she should pay the balance in full ("don't know why you were told different") which she did as it was due today. Now it looks like the original message was probably correct judging by what has happened to my account.

Even though my account should have been closed (as I didn't apply for the new 0.5% card) they have sent me new terms and conditions which still state cashback at 3% may be earned on purchases (section 11.1)!

Ho hum... well at least we now know for future reference that it is the company henceforth to be known as NewDay Ltd. that is to be avoided on account of their inability to organise their way out of a paper bag.... :-)
  • Has anyone actually received either a cheque or bank payment for their remaining cashback balance?

    Cheers,

Yes lots of people (see other thread) although most of the cheques have been rejected (not bounced).

Just wondering, has anybody's account been fully closed after not signing up for the new credit agreement?

I'll have to try that with my car insurance when they claim not to have received proof of my NCB discount. Doubtless the law is different the other way round.

I've just recalled a case I personally experienced a few years ago and whilst it's off topic I'm going to put it here in case the legal stuff is useful for someone.

A few years ago I have some greetings cards on approval (can't remember the name of the firm but the deal was on MSE).
I didn't want to keep them so I returned them with a free prrof of posting.
Guess what - the firm said they didn't receive them.
I told them the goods were theirs and under a "contract of bailment" and I had proof of posting so as the goods belonged to them it was their responsibility to get compensation from Royal Mail fi their goods had been lost.
So yes - sometimes the law does work in the favour of the consumer - if of course you can be bothered to do a little due dilligence :-)

For NCD I always take a scanned copy so it's a case of taking sensible precautions.
I'd say in that case it was your responsibility to get the NCD to them but recorded delivery should prove it (around 75p).
If you do a little due dilligence you should be able to use the correct service and keep your costs relatively low at the same time.

Log in to your account and send them a secure message about closing it. You should get a letter confirming they've closed it about a week later.

    Thanks.
We shouldn't have to run round after their pathetic customer service, but for me it was worth £100.

Nice. Been waiting for that and it's a shame that I'll get so much again as that's from the old contract.
