Theres just no need for that level of b1tching. There is nothing wrong with what percy does, and calling his services cheap and trashy says more about you than it does him.

Secondly, I've recently bought into one of these cheap and trashy products, whch will probably have you thinking I'm a bit pathetic. Pardon me for wanting to preserve memories through the use of media. The girl offering the services certainly did a better job than I ever could.

I object strongly to your sexist language.

I am making a very serious point about the provision of important essential services and comparing them with totally un-necessary and inessential service.

For Percy to say that his services are in someway 'ethical' compared to the provision of essential services is a serious point naturally totally missed by yourself.

To be fair, Percy seems like a good guy and I particularly like his little love heart kissy thing in his signature regarding his marriage. However, many landlords have another job alongside that of being a landlord and most of those would be as worthy as Percy's job so I think it was uncharacteristically unkind of him to be so disparaging. So in addition to our normal jobs we have to ensure that our property is maintained, that our tenants are happy, that our taxes are paid, that our prices are competitive etc.

As a parent, I could argue that schools sending letters saying "NO RECORDING IS PERMITTED. YOU MAY BUY A DVD (at more than the cost of a hollywood movie) VIA US ONLY" is pretty unethical. Particularly as the actors are essentially unpaid slaves in this scenario, and parents are naturally pressured to have a for grandparents etc.

If it was "go for it, please don't add lighting/use flash, if your recording is **** buy this!" I might consider it ethical.

The rant is more aimed at the schools though I guess (as I don't know Percy's margins)

Nothing I said was sexist. What you have just implied (that only women are capable of b1tching about another person)..... IS.

I will say I never push the no recording thing, I do see a few phones come up here and there but I don't believe it effects sales, I have had a few people confess but say don't worry they will still buy.

I will say our whole sales thing is about offering a much better product, not corning them into buying.

As for my prices I charge less than half of the competition but due to this I sell much more, essentially schools make a profit and they sell the DVDs sell for £6. Essentially I have tried to price at a point where all can afford a copy rather than maximum profit, many of my customers do say I could/should charge more.

To say all unnecessary products/services are unethical is rather silly really. You could say the ethics behind unnecessary products are in some respects irrelevant as people aren't forced to buy them. ie I would say I run an ethical business, I don't believe apple act in an ethical way so I can choose not to buy from them.

Meanwhile there is businesses which corner the market and should act ethically as people have no choice but to act ethically, yes that includes energy companies.

As I have said before the easiest way is rent caps, to the same levels of council housing.

    Here is an example:

My mortgage is £500, the most I can rent it out for is £400. Ok I am making a loss of £100, well if i push that over 25 years I have paid £30k for a £100k house, so still not a bad investment. Consider rents will rise in a fair way with earnings so eventually i wouldn't even be making a loss every month so even better.

The question that is asked of the energy companies is justify the price increase.

So here is my question, how can any landlord justify a rent increase when there costs are at there lowest with no increases? this is peoples lives they are playing with.

one assumes you will be charging the same price in 20 years time too?

I would say in adjusted terms I will be, the only reason I would increase prices would be an increase in materials right now, even then I would absorb small differences. As for my time I guess at some point my wages would go up along with everybody elses, but then average wages would be up so it would be no more expensive in adjusted terms but thats fair enough as I will be putting the hours in... you know actually working for the money.
