You can get Kingfisher toothpaste from health food shops. It comes in aniseed flavour which is quite nice. :)

I would like to second this,I bought some from a local wholefood shop a few weeks ago and I really like it,makes a change from mint.

my mom uses euthymol toothpaste which is really nice - the taste reminds me of the hot jawbreaker sweets!!!
  • Hi there, I'm so glad I found this thread as we've got the same problem with my 9yr old - she hates strong tastes, especially mint! Her dentist has told her she has to start using an adult toothpaste rather than the yummy strawberry flavoured one she's been using for ages.

I've just bought a Sensodyne "Gentle Mint" from Morrisons which is made especially for children aged 6-12yrs, so we'll give that a go later - fingers crossed!

I know some people have talked about other flavours, but I really want her to get used to the taste of mint, even if it is only mild, otherwise this will be an ongoing problem.

The problem is many of the alternatives do not have fluoride in them and the reason why dentist move children on to adult toothpaste is that kids ones have only a small amount of fluoride. Check on packets for fluoride content .

A few of the sensodyne toothpastes I've tried aren't too minty, I don't really like them. The mintier the better for me.
The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.
  • You might want to try Lidl's Dentalux Herb Fresh toothpaste. That's not very minty and contains fluoride. And it's inexpensive, too.
  • I use euthymol tooth paste, it's not minty at all.

Euthymol is about the most abrasive toothpaste there is. It is good for cleaning bathroom grouting, and if you really must and are a heavy smoker it maybe safe to use it no more than once a week. It also has no fluoride in it. I would never suggest anyone, let alone a child, uses it.
  • funny that i was in the original half of this thread saying i was pregnant and the minty toothpaste made me gag,
because the boy i was pregnant with cant stand mint toothpaste, ive been buying the strawberry stuff but i think it makes his breath smell disgusting so now im upsetting him every night by using mint, even though its the mildest mint i can find!!!
