Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 19th June 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
:hello: Good Morning fellow OS'ers :hello:
What a wonderful storm we had last night! Absolutely breathtaking. Left a lovely fresh sunny morning to wake to

Had a lovely lunch with the girls yesterday, but it was a bit touch and go whether I'd make it. Monday night, as d13yo was going to bed, he put the catch down on the front door and the snip pinged out of the lock, locking us all in. Had to call dh out from work - he had to climb in through the window, but wasn't much use; then had to call out a locksmith who finally arrived around midnight. That was the 2nd man to climb through my window! He got the lock off, but didn't carry my size lock in his van. Sooooo, he took the snip off completely with a promise to return the next morning with a new lock. Hoping this will all be covered by the insurance. There's some doubt over that because they are more used to dealing with people with lost keys who can't get in, rather than broken catches locking you in. Just relieved it's fixed
Friend of mine proudly tells me she has got herself a slow cooker, so I'm going to share some recipes with her. She's already experienced some BM delights and has her mind set on getting one of those too

Sorting out some books for the girls yesterday showed up the tops of my wardrobes as dust ridden hidey holes, so I really need to get those cleared and cleaned this afternoon

Dental appointment went as well as can be expected, but I've now got another series of work to be done *sighs*. The dentist did make me chuckle and was teasing me (he knows how I dislike being in that chair!) so it wasn't quite such a trauma as my previous dentist experiences. Which reminds me, hope your mouth is feeling better PP?
Enjoy a moneysaving Wednesday (oooh, just remembered, Debenhams sales begin today :j - those wardrobes might have to hang on a bit longer after all); ((hugs)) to those who need them.

Good morning Queenie, and everyone else,
Nothing much going on here at the moment, just attempting to keep on top of all the housework, and looking after the LOs really.
Think we have an outbreak of nits - i did nit omb my hair last night, but didnt find any, but DD def has them, and one of the Los has been scratching her head, so i think a trip to the chemist is on the cards this morning - my hair has been itching (and back of my neck) since i found the eggs in DDs hair, so all of us will be treated later. (sorry if everyone is itching now!!!)
Well, thats it, hope everyone has a lovley day,
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -

Last night, d11yo said he had to collect some woodlice to take into school today. He put 5 in a plastic cup, covered it in clingfilm, popped a few holes in it and left them on the patio table overnight ... he's just been to check them .... they've drowned after last nights storm.Oooops! (He's gathering some more as I type
).
Cat - are you entitled to get some nit lotion from the local health centre for free?

Morning
Not many of us around yet, everyone must be having a lie-in today
Off to work today, so will put a gammon joint in the slow cooker for tea, and will take tortilla wraps for lunch.
Went into Netto yesterday, and got a set of Antony Worrall saucepans for £19.99, and a knife block for £7.99. They also had boxes of broken biscuits for £1.49 - DH took them for work and said they were full of chocolate ones.
Amie, I'm so impressed you have an orange tomato - mine are still green, but then I didn't talk to them :rotfl:
Hope everyone has a good day xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Morning
Yep, we had a thunderstorm last night too! Lovely and sunny here this morning, although still hot.
The theatre was very good. Took sis to see Joseph as she'd not seen it before. We were up bopping at the end!
Got a meeting with the boss at 8am to see if I've got the month off I need. Please keep fingers crossed.
Started looking for another job, not necessarily in the UK. Looking in the EU too as it's easy(ish) to move there. I need a fresh start somewhere. Anyone want a PR girl?? I've got experience!
Going to use a Boots voucher from Pigsback later to top up my mobile for free:T
Hope everyone's okComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
Morning everyone
Didn't sleep well last night, I was awake worrying about having lost one of my jobs. I'll have to try & find something to take it's place. As some of you probably know I knit scarves & sell them at Christmas, I've decide to make some rice bags as well, I made one for a workmate with a bad neck & there has been a lot of interest, I'll get some more essential oil, maybe orange, as not everyone like lavender.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Hugs to all
Hester

Morning All
Lovely and sunny here in Essex too. Not too much washing today though - might do a load. Lots and lots of ironing which I will be clearing today infront of the telly. Little bit of housework as well.
Will need to pop in the office for a bit but thats all today - going to have a break from paperwork. Must also at somepoint locate some items to out on ebay tomorrow.
Have completely changed my mealplan this week, think it maybe because I now have a lovely rice cooker which makes delicious rice so easily and we seem to keep having rice so tonight am hoping to have - chinese chicken and........rice.
Have a great day all.
Good luck job-hunting Scuzz.0 -
Good Morning
Queenie - I remember being locked out once when I was about 12 - me my mum my brother and sister. I'd dropped the key and it was too dark to seeit ! I remember we had to wait for my dad to come home, not sure why, it was a long time ago, but that horrible feeling has stayed with me!!
We had a storm here last night as well - beautiful morning though! Let's hope it stays like this all day.
I'm a bit busy this week, it's the deadline to get the monthly newspaper I type and edit to the printers on Friday, and I've just had 3 new pieces of freelance translation work - 2 yesterday!!! It seems word is spreading about my new business although these are all from existing customers - so I'm chuffed!
Because of the above busy-ness I'm not being as 'organised' or OS as I'd like. But I did shine my sink before going to bed last night, and it IS lovely to come down to in the morning.
Anyway, hope you all have a good day. I'm taking my Mum shopping tomorrow night but I have plenty of food in, so my challenge will be not buying anything new.

Good morning. Another sleepless night checking on the chicks. Another hatched in the early hours, and is drying out in the incubator. She's weaker than the other 2 were at this time, to please keep everything crossed for her.
Someone reversed their 4 x 4 into DH's car yesterday. It was parke oiutside his friend's house, and they'd gone to w*** in friend's car. Luckily, she left details. It'll still be a problem to fix, though. Where we live, main dealer recommended repairers (who you have to use if you go through insurance) are reluctant to deal with us as they say we're too far away. This is what happened last time someone drove into me, despite the fact that I was prepared to bring the car in and collect it
We had the lightning storm, too. We had the shutters half up, so could see it all.
Off to w*** later, have a great day.
