I've just got married. We set a budget of £1000 and came in at £850. This included ALL the costs for the wedding, dress, grooms clothes, veil, bouquet, buttonholes, wedding buffet and champagne and canap! reception. Gazeebo's in the garden, wedding cake, night in a hotel on the wedding day, decorating the house for the party.
Take into account another £300 raised through things specifically sold for the wedding the overall cost was £550 !!
It was the most fantastic day and made it even more special by being surrounded by family and friends at home afterwards.

Congratulations and welcome to MSE!. Most marriages rarely work out, one of you will most likely cheat or you'll realise that the person you thought was the "one" turns out to be very f*cking annoying, but I hope you make the most of it for the time being.
Please share your tips on how you kept the costs low, this is a money saving website after all.
I bet youre a bundle of laughs on a night out.
OP, congratulations, may you have many, many happy years.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Surely that didn't include the cost of the registrar? That alone was over £350 for us.0

Oh I don't know, ours came in under £1000, so it's easily achieveable if you put your mind to it.0 -
No its not Spam. Take a look at other contributions.
I will draw up a list of costs if you really are interested but not if all I get is abuse.
The registrar fees were included in that.
Booking fee £50
Use of Registration Office £129
Notice of marriage 2 x £35
Certificate £200 -
Good for you. Enjoy marriage.0

Costs kept low by borrowing and having friends help.
Cake was a present from my cousin
Button hole cost 35 pence each - cost of one thistle. Then used garden foliage.
Wedding dress ordered from Asia and hand made! Amazing and under £100.
Veil was just over £1 - flower from accessorize and netting from fabric shop
Gazeebo's x 4 were borrowed
Borrowed heaters, fairy lights, tables, chairs….
Friend who was an ex chef made the canap!s. Cost only for ingredients £60 - they fed 70 people.
Afternoon Tea was sandwiches and tea and Bucks Fizz. The food order was from Sainsburys. Multi buy and discount vouchers used reduced it from £135 to £51 !!
So Yes! It can be done…believe me I was as sceptical as the next one!0 -
Well done and congratulations .
Your cost of wedding venue is a lot cheaper than ours.
But it depends on day of the week.
Love the reception idea.Light travels faster than sound.
This is why some people seem as bright until you hear them.0 -

Good going, not everyone is able to "borrow" all the rather expensive items on your list though. Or have friends who were chefs lol.
I wish you all the best and congratulations on your wedding. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

Ours was nothing like that. We didn't have a do, but we got married for about a hundred quid...purely the required fees for the day...(registry office and what ever else before. Licence fee? )
Congratulations OP.
