You guys really don't do humour do you? :rotfl:0 -
The answer is simple - get you or your other half to work for an energy provider then you can pay out of gross income !
Or invest in a bucket load of utility shares and use the dividends to pay the energy bills*
* For Graham, Grizzly and the other humourless bears, this is a joke. Let's not have pages of analysis on how many shares you would need, etc. etc.0 -

c£6k invested in Centrica in 2009 would have seen a capital gain of £3k and dividends of c£1200 on top.
Such an investment would have paid dividends of approx. £373.57 (4.1%) in 2013. That's 50% of a frugal families gas bill.
Similar investments in Severn Trent and National Grid might be yielding 150% of the annual water bill and 110% of the annual electric bill for the same MSE family.
I think Graham must have invested heavily too because he was convinced that utility companies can put up prices at will and shareholders were coining it in.
There's one word I'd like to say to people who refuse to reduce consumption of 'essentials' - thanks.0 -

Again, you inform me of what I think. Thanks - saves me the energy of thinking for myself.
A search 'Graham_Devon' and 'energy bills' throws up about 15 threads you've started when prices have risen. The Graham_Devon that I saw was dismissive of the reasons given by the companies, pointed out that annual rises were cynically timed for Autumn as consumption increased and was at pains to point out the increases in profitability of the utility co's.
Is there more than one Graham_Devon? Must be - the Graham_Devon I looked at is minted - in 2008 he was living alone in a 2-bed and paying more in electricity than my family of 4 spent on electric/ gas and water combined in 2012.0 -

Which is, errr, true.
And doesn't state anything you said I had stated, which is why, I assume, after searching, you haven't linked to a single post.0 -

That's because the 'depressives' on here have a million reasons why they can't take any steps to improve their circumstances. "There is no point in conserving energy because the payback is more than 10 minutes. Besides, the world is going to end anyway, so what is the point?"
There is a reason they are all single. It just amazes me that they can't see it and change.0 -

Are you for real?
If this is true....
The Graham_Devon that I saw was dismissive of the reasons given by the companies, pointed out that annual rises were cynically timed for Autumn as consumption increased and was at pains to point out the increases in profitability of the utility co's.
then isn't this a valid summary of what you think is going on?..
...he was convinced that utility companies can put up prices at will and shareholders were coining it in.
Oh hang on. You're right - you have never said what I said you said using exactly the same words in exactly the same order.
I've done that strange human thing where I try to work out what people mean based on what they say.0 -
Graham has never said "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog", he actually said "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy hound". You must now make a retraction and apologise to him for misrepresenting his position.0

You are so far behind the curve but by all means keep spouting up, you never know we might have missed something."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
