  • I saw this first thing this morning and was fuming, but have been out for walkies now and calmed down

I don't know why you continually have a pop at mag daily thread comping cat; originally I took it on as a way of helping out Glad who was running the Daily Sticky at the time and was being deluged. We trialled it, we polled it, it worked, and now we've even got it stickied, what more can we do!!!!

It was taking a lot of people a lot of effort previously; posting on main, adding link to Daily Sticky, Glad putting the link on the front page of the Daily Sticky, and I think there were only 6 mag daily sites when this changed to a specific thread. Now there are 16 mag daily sites, and 6 clicktowin sites.

A lot of people said they don't do mag dailies and putting each and every one of these on the main forum again would clog it up even more than now, and I for one can't get through them.

Until the day that everything gets posted on the main forum and EVERYONE bookmarks/favourites their own post choices we are not going to please everyone :(

I am a relatively newish Comper a couple of years, and I am eternally grateful to all posters. Just today I won an iPad through the Mag dailies.

I for one like the way the dailies are listed and I am not brilliant at working things out, but have found a way to do these that suits my comping. Everyone has to find a way that suits them.

Thank you once again, you have one happy Comper. :)

    Wise words.

Now I've located these threads, I've saved them under my "weekly comps" bookmark, and check the end of the thread for any new ones added each week (on Sundays, the quietest day for both new comps and comps ending). I only have time to enter each once, not daily. If I do happen to have any spare time for extra comping, I know where to find them.

I've found a way that works for me, and having heard views from both sides, agree it makes more sense to post the mag dailies all on one thread (from my POV, anything that cuts down on my daily load during the week is appreciated!). But as above, everybody has to find a way that suits them.

    Thanks to ALL compers! :T

Cant understand what all the fuss is about. You all do such a good job. The daily competitions are very easy to find for anyone that wants to do them.

  • Thanks for posting this!

I would be very grateful if all new competitions were posted to the main forum so we could easily bookmark the ones we like.

I find the daily section really confusing...
  • Massive thanks for posting Toniq. Going to add my 2 cents, sorry!

I'm very happy with the way the mag dailies are done now - I agree there are far too many to post individually on the main board. The only problem I have is that I - like a lot of other people - do the Chat etc comps by having bookmarks direct to the site, going through the prize draw comps and entering the ones I want, so I don't actually use the thread on MSE. Normally this is fine, but these special Christmas comps that have been highlighted in this thread don't appear on the list of prize draws on the site which is why I, and many other people wouldn't have known they existed without this thread, despite doing the dailies every day in our own way :)

Once again, very grateful for this thread. Hope someone from MSE wins the biggies!

In the interests of compromise, how about leaving the general pattern of posting mag dailies as now, perhaps with a more tabloid headline as I suggested earlier, but posting the very occasional "specials" on the main board as well as in the dailies. I don't think that this would be a huge amount of extra work, and the posts for the "specials" could contain a link to the main mag daily thread as a further help for people discovering it.

The only question may be what constitutes a "special". Prize worth £1000 or more?

    I think that's a very sensible idea.

I too love the mag daily thread the way it is; it took me some time to get used to it, but now I have, it's part of my daily routine. I don't feel that the competitions on there are "hidden away" in any way, any more so than I do the puzzle magazine competitions in their own thread. They are clearly visible in a sticky at the top of the page, and if people choose not to use it then that's up to them - much the same as I don't use the standard daily thread (too many rafflecopters!), nor the weekly or postal / text threads.

I totally agree with the posters who have said it would be a step backwards to post every mag daily competition on to the main board - not to mention how annoying it would be to look at the board, clogged up with seven individual posts for each competition that run concurrently on the mags.
However I think there is something to be said for rugmaker's "compromise" suggestion of posting on the main board the big prizes that, for some reason, aren't visible in the magazine's lists of prize draws. That way, nobody would miss out on them, and it wouldn't be too much extra work to post them.

So, should we agree, in the event that this type of prize crops up again, where it's not in the main list of prize draws and people may miss out, that an exception should be made and it should go on to the main board?

I think the way they are posted and stickied is perfect - I'm far from an expert comper, not helped by having appalling eyesight (thank heaven's or computer companies for Ctrl+) but now I've got used to it find it by far the easiest way to keep up with these dailies. And am hugely grateful to those that do the brilliant job of posting them.
    Thank you very, very much.
