You're missing the point, this isn't an argument/debate thread, we just want as many compers to see the big comps so we all get a chance to win big.

That's why we post on mse to give others a chance x

As far as I remember there was no public discussion/poll/argument on moving mag dailies to one thread. I remember getting a few PMs at the time expressing surprise that things had suddenly changed.

    Thanks for flagging up Toniq

(sorry didn't see the 'this isn't a thread to debate etc' posts ... am posting from an ipod which is a pain in the bum. Will shuddup :D)

Thanks toniq for bringing these comps to the attention of those who had not already seen them. :T

A solution (although I’m sure the MSE Devs would not thank me for this) would be to have various boxes that are filled in by the comp poster via a pull down mini menu when a competition is posted. For example:-
    ·Box 1 – End date
·Box 2 – Type of comp e.g. General; Daily; Weekly; Magazine Daily; Rafflecopter(and Punchtab); Twitter;Facebook etc
    · Box 3 – The prize
    ·Box 4 – The merchant / competition provider

The comp title would then be filled in to look like this- 'E: 20/12 (Twitter) Win a short break at Legoland' and the comp poster could fill in the OP as they see fit.

Firstly, this would (hopefully) resolve any issues with competitions being posted incorrectly and being moved to ‘Game Over’ and there would be a uniformity of how the comps ‘look’.

Secondly, and more importantly we could then easily filter through the comps that we do / don’t wish to see

For example – We could have an ‘All’ choice where we view ‘all’ comps, or if you didn’t want to see Rafflecopters you could have your settings set so that Rafflecopters didn’t appear as per your settings, and so on.

A sticky, is not listing them on the main board.

Imagine you have just started entering competitions, you are trying to get a system going considering there are so many competitions and so many different ways of comping.

Then you go into that magazine sticky - as i keep harping on, i find it completely overwhelming and i am a very long time comper - just try and imagine what its like for someone not as organised, someone new, someone who doesn't have a lot of time etc - it is completely unfair, and as i keep saying, all competitions are meant to be listed on the main board - not hidden away.

nope a sticky isnt "listing" them on the main board, but it its highlighting for everyone to see that there is a thread for them, same as has been mentioned for the puzzle and take-a-break threads, altho they are not stickied so are even more 'hidden' then

you say it looks daunting when you look in the mag thread, can you imagine how daunting it would be for the OP to have to create a new post on the main board every single time, give it a title, post descriptions and links and then go off to the daily thread and post a link there for its location on the main board and then for the OP of the daily index thread to have to copy all of those from the end of the thread to the beginning of the thread and try to find the time and room for them in amongst all the other hundreds and thousands of rafflecopter dailies now being posted

at the end of the day its down to the OP to post them how they like, are comfortable with and have the time to be able to do, at least that way they are on here for us albeit somewhere but then it is for us to learn the workings of the forum and find where things are

there are 16 magazines with an average of 30+ comps per mag
there are currently 6 (this will prob dbl within 3-6 months) click2win sites with an average of 50+ comps per mag

i would rather these 780+ competitions be listed somewhere, in fact anywhere so that i have an opportunity to enter them, even if i have to hunt around and find them and bookmark a few threads and learn to read them properly, than them not be posted at all because the OP doesnt have the time to stick to the rules 'all competitions are meant to be listed on the main board'

wish i could add a poll

    Option 1
780 individual comps posted to the main board
780 links to the end of the daily sticky thread
780 links copied to the front of the daily sticky thread

    or

    Option 2
half a dozen or so comps in one post at a time on the end of the mag thread
half a dozen or so copied to the front page in one go
and 1 post in the daily sticky thread pointing everyone where to go

ps - pls believe me when i say i am not having a go at you just because i quoted your post, all i am trying to do is highlight the amount of work and effort that would be involved for others to continue with said 'rules'

the times are a changing and we must all move and adapt to meet them to be able to continue in a way that is preferred by the kind people who give and take their precious time to share with us all the fabulous competitions that are out there for us to enter

if somebody really doesnt like it that much, then they must step up and offer to take over or else you just run the risk of antagonising the OP's everytime and they will cease and desist from posting any further and the majority will likely miss out all for the sake of a few minorty views

    i think i'm done now ;)

pps - pls dont quote me on the 'majority vs miniorty' aspect, unless this OP's thanks outnumbers the thanks on the previous mag sticky thread here

I do look at the magazine dailies and bookmark the ones I want to enter but, I did think that they were posted on the main board with the end date in the title too. I honestly didn't realise that the only place you could find them was in that dailies thread, I haven't been comping for that long, compared to a lot of people on the board, so I still find new ways of doing it every week!

I am grateful for any and every comp that's posted but, I do understand that it must be frustrating that they can only be found in the sticky thread for those that don't want to (or don't have the time to) enter the same comp each day and feel like they could be missing out.

I also understand too, how time consuming it would be to post them in two threads.

I'm not sure what the solution is, but I hope it can be resolved one way or another so that everyone is happy.
