Because the new SIM is the one that is meant to come with the new phone you are 'upgrading' to, so if you are putting the old sim in the new phone you wont need the new SIM.

I think it works if your eligible for it, if your not it wont. I think its hit and miss if your eligible or not.

i just tried this - im not eligible for my £20 reward as i bought my new phone over 60 days ago. wish i had known about this before will it work if i get one of those free sims theyre advertising all the time?
