i did use the removal tool but when i still could not install the 30 day trial i tried the add/remove programmes it goes through a sequence to remove, i then tried the removal tool after that
yes i still have the 2012 disc, but have managed to download 30 day trial of kaspersky pure, that will keep me ticking over till i try to get another disc
Try to reinstall 2012 and see if the 2009 key works with it. Then run the KIS 2014 install over the top.0 -

i am not sure i understand the 2012 disc has expired, do u mean for me to purchase direct from kaspersky?, i did install the 2014 'internet security' free trial, it said protection enabled then i got the message 'command line parameters are incorrect, run the executable file with /h for list of supported parameters. kasperskey then disabled itself, thats when i tried manually removing kaspersky then the removal tool, after that i was able to download pure, might be just coincidence and maybe nothing to do with me removing both manually and with the tool
Install 2012 from the disc and then see if the 2009 key works with it. If it does, then you can install 2014 over the top of 2012.
But remove Pure completely and reboot before re-installing 2012.0 -

my wrong, i know its the licence and not the disc,
i purchased the 2009 from e bay but followed kasperskys advice to remove existing kaspersky before installing another kaspersky as i do every year
well thanks to all who have helped at least i have some security for now.0 -

reminds me to renew mine ( 12 days left) not paying the £40 Kaspersky wants to renew.0 -
i have just recieved an e-mail off kaspersky tonight telling me my cover expired today they are offering 50% off their prices now, still probably cheaper off e-bay.
its kaspersky that told me to remove older versions, i first posted the question on here might have been last year or year before asking advice about removing older versions, opinions varied so i e-mailed kaspersky
