Oh god, I cant believe its only Tuesday! I am working everyday this week and its already dragging!
I'll like the money it brings in though, this is what I keep saying to myself.
As well as working everyday, I am interviewing on Wednesday evening for staff. I have 3 lined up to interview, so not too bad. I just need to know what hours they want and see if I can offer them what they need.
I am employing on a zero hour contract at the moment, as until I am settled into the swing of things, I cannot guarantee a set number of hours.
Still no news on the savings, and there wont be for the time being due to the business.0 -
The week is dragging for me too- I'll be glad when I'm back on four day weeks in just a few weeks time. That extra day with my boy makes all the difference.
The extra money will make a difference to you too!
Are you managing to keep the boys occupied during the holidays?
Don't worry about having no savings to report- this isn't the only reason for this thread you know! For the time period that you can't save, use it to document your cut backs and money saving ways until you can save again to keep the momentum up.
We've had a disastrous few weeks spending wise and I'm thoroughly demotivated. I just want pay day to be here now so that I can sort it all out!
On the plus side, my weekly shop for the three of us this week was only £44CC1: £4481.14/ £5031.14 (12% paid off, £600) | CC2:£3307/ £3807 (14.4% paid off, £550) | Loan: £10,528.20/ £15,792.30((33% paid off, £5,264))
July debt total: £24,630.44 | New debt total: £18,316.34 | Total debt paid: £6,414.10 (26%)

Thanks Jo
When is pay day for you?
Big news- I think I have found my 1st member of staff! I am going to offer her a trial day and see how she gets on.
Spent hours interviewing people this week, as well as working myself, plus emailing clients and other potential staff. Exhausted doesn't even come close! Loving it though
I now have a list of clients that are on the waiting list, waiting for new staff to start work. So I am going to have a thorough look through that.
Zzz..is it bed time yet??0 -
Pay day for me is a week tomorrow and it can't come quick enough! We're going to be FAR more sensible in September- our only treat might be a reasonably priced meal for our fourth wedding anniversary on 26th.
Wow you found a staff member already!! Well done! Great idea on the trial shift, hopefully he/she is up to scratch and you can really kick things off!
All this hard work will definitely pay off in the end but just make sure you get enough sleep!!CC1: £4481.14/ £5031.14 (12% paid off, £600) | CC2:£3307/ £3807 (14.4% paid off, £550) | Loan: £10,528.20/ £15,792.30((33% paid off, £5,264))

Thanks atush and Jo. Just a quick one from me this evening. Just off to bed now! Have only just finished work-related stuff (emails and phone calls)
The working week isn't over yet though, I am working tomorrow too, and then Sunday and Monday I am going to do NOTHING!!!
I got advice on another thread that I started, that because I am working more hours, I need to contact HMRC Tax Benefits as I may get extra money. But I don't see how that can be the case when (as of yet) I haven't had any change in income? Anyone know?
Roll on Sunday! Night All0 -
RE: painting the kitchen cabinets, it can be done. but how will be determined by what material they are made of now and the finish now as they have to be properly prepared. for instance a man made finish will require a solvent primer such as ESP.
Use a satin finish when you do for easier cleaning.
Once I covered bright orange cupboards in a rental house in Jersey with sticky back plastic covering lol. Made mornings easier on the eye
AS for the hours, if you are working more and earning the same it would mean your hourly wage is going down so that could affect things?0 -
Afternoon All
My weekend officially starts NOW!
Earned an extra £50 this morning, so it'll be worth it, I am pleased with that. I wont bother banking it, I will leave it in my purse and take the boys out and do something with them instead.
I have been feeling like a very bad mum this weekI have sat the boys down and explained that I have taken on the business and that means that I will be working a lot more than normal, but that I hope it'll provide us with a higher income (in the long term). They say that they don't mind, and that they are happy..but I just feel so bad.
Had a mini break down this morning when my laptop wouldn't start...but I closed the lid, left it for 15mins, then it worked when I opened the lid again?!
atush-bright orange..yikes! No wonder you covered them!
Jo- how's that motivation doing?0 -
Eh...the motivation is doing ok, mainly because we're skint until next week so I've got no choice but to not spend! I cannot wait to put something into the savings.
My neighbour had an offer put on her flat yesterday so with any luck the flat will sell. That bodes well for us getting ready to sell I'm 6months to a year. It's only been on the market 8 weeks.
All the talked houses and flats selling has made me really determined. I've also now got a list of what I want to buy my son for birthday and Christmas. Now I have that, I've got time to find it all at the best price I can to keep costs down.
Glad your boys were ok about you working, I know you must find it tough but it's all for the greater good.
Are you lookingforward to your day off?
I'm heading out for food shopping then going to visit the mother in law then I need to do my Ice bucket challenge...Eek!CC1: £4481.14/ £5031.14 (12% paid off, £600) | CC2:£3307/ £3807 (14.4% paid off, £550) | Loan: £10,528.20/ £15,792.30((33% paid off, £5,264))
