I used the Maclaren XT along side as a buggy when she was older, even though suitable from newborn my two never looked "comfy" in there when newborn? Maybe that's down to how small they where though rather than a general view.

The Maclaren is definitely the best in buggy terms though

I was concerned about this too when I decided to use it for DD from newborn, so I got a lovely snuggly cosy toes from M&P's and a lambskin for her to lie on - she looks really comfy in it :D Also meant to say I have a baby carrier which I use when it's too much hassle to get the buggy out. And it's true that car seats are so awkward and heavy to lug about!!

    Thanks all!!

We would definitely usually choose to take baby out of car seat when we get out of the car, and into a bassinet type attachment so we definitely wouldn't push baby around in the car seat as standard.

Just would be nice to have an all in one system for those times when I am on my own, I know we will only be out for half an hour, and when I park up baby is fast asleep in the car seat and I don't want the hassle of risking waking baby up by having to transfer baby into the bassinet.

Hope that makes sense!! Although fully appreciate that this is our first baby and thus we don't really know how anything is going to work out in practice so things could be totally different when baby comes!!

Thanks so much everyone for the advice, gives us a really great starter list :D

  • Ooh and the baby carrier/sling suggestions - OH is dead set on getting one of these (think he wants to look like one of those cool dads carrying his baby around and I'm not complaining if it gives me a break :) ) so I think we will be using one of these as well :)
