Had a similar experience myself on there about 18 Months ago. There were a couple of discussions about an area I was looking at buying in, and I mentioned that sensibly priced property seemed to be selling reasonably quickly, and prices were edging up.

Before I knew it, I got hit with what Turnbull 2000 brilliantly described as a "stealth ban". No notification. No "official" ban. Just suddenly all my posts needed "approval from a moderator", and surprise surprise, that approval never came.
  • The brainwashing is strong in this one though.

He'll need years of deprogramming to see through the cult of the crashaholics.

Another thread created by a couple of house price rampers backed up their multiple fake user accounts.

Please can we keep the house price propaganda/ramping off here and concentrate on saving people money.

Pretty sure the OP has been a member of HPC for much longer than you Brit.

And he seems extremely bearish to me.

    Hardly a ramper.

    :rotfl:

    Priceless.

From the biggest crash-ramper and anti-homeowner propagandist on here. :)

Honestly, well done, not may people would have the brass neck to stick around after making so many dozens of failed predictions like "50% off by Xmas 2009". :)

Yes, I usually am, about house prices anyway.

Only one of us was predicting imminently crashing prices a year ago, and thankfully, it wasn't me.

Because it would suck to be that wrong....

    Halifax +6.9% YoY
    Nationwide +5.8% YoY
    Land Registry +3.4% YoY

Oh, and RoS for Aberdeen is +9.9% YoY.

How's the silver investment going by the way?

Feeling any better now it's crashed by 60% since you last ramped it in your signature?

  • thought it was longer than that. I know ive been pretty active on there. must be the fact its been 6 years since I last tried selling.
  • I am having the same issues. I've been a member on the site for over 2 years and have been reading the forums for over 7. Now every time I try to post a reply I get the following message....

"This post will need approval from a moderator before this post is shown."

So does that mean I have been banned?! I have no idea what for? I have done a lot of digging for them with the land registry people and reported my findings.

The last time I was able to post I gave a review of what was happening in my local area, i.e. that estate agents were talking it up and going a bit mental, but that one had said he was getting lots of fall throughs because of down valuations.

If any of the moderators are reading this can you please let us know what is going on? I am assuming it must be a mistake or one over reactive moderator, but if not it makes a mockery of freedom of speech to not allow contributing members to post anything apart from heavily bearish comments? The moderator team might want to discuss amongst yourselves where the site is heading if you can't even allow genuine contributors the freedom to write what they feel without banning them? Perhaps a private message to those posters to say what you feel they are doing wrong would be better. Otherwise you are no better than the GOV covering up people's experiences of what is happening out there.

That's enough to get you banned I'm afraid. To say the mods and the major posters are a bit mentally unbalanced would be too generous. One popular blogger (Mark Wadsworth) set up an ex-HPC Facebook group after becoming fed up of the "stalinist" moderation and a deranged site-owner/moderator cyber-stalking and abusing him.
