Hi chickadee - How many letters is that now?

Remember - I said to expect around 6 before they give up and crawl back under the stone they came from.

Have a good laugh and another Gin & Tonic. (Other drinks are available :D)

    Everything is normal.

Happy holidays and have a good New Year.

As you already know UKPC do not exactly rush to court and are extremely unlikely to run off to the Sheriff Court any time soon. Very few cases have ever been issued north of the border.
AFAIK no cases have ever been taken to court in Scotland.

University of Edinburgh -v- Daniel Onifade One that is sometimes referred to but not strictly speaking a PPC case. ;)
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

I have heard of a couple on here, perhaps it's time to do a foi request to the courts in Scotland ?
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

    I say again:

UKPC DO NOT DO COURT. EVER. I WILL EAT MY HAT IF THEY START WITH A SINGLE LITTLE FAKE PCN IN SCOTLAND!

Time for that written complaint to Next, then, as you mentioned before. See the 'successful complaints about PPCs' sticky thread for example complaints linked, and make sure you don't name the driver.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I should have qualified that. AFAIK as with the OP no cases of overstaying in a free car park have been taken to court in Scotland.

I didn't even overstay, I just forgot to get the 'free' ticket. I was there for 40 minutes maximum so I was nowhere near the free limit which is what bugs me the most, grrr!

    I hope I don't become the first.

Will do. I'll try M&S again too, this time written rather than Twitter, which wasn't much use in the end.

Do you think I should write to the specific store rather than their general customer services? I ask because the Twitter 'helpdesk' M&S gave me their customer service address in England and I'm not sure how much use that'll be. I still have my receipts from both shops, so I can send them copies if that helps prove I was there spending money. Although, without naming the driver! I did name in my 'appeal' to UKPC, but I should still avoid naming in my correspondence with the shops, that right?

IMHO from collating the 'successful complaints' links, I have formed the impression that complaints to the Store Managers are best done in person, and written letters are best for the CEO of a national chain. And where it's a retail park, copy in the Centre's Managing Agents to the written complaint (Google the name of the place and look for any retail blurb or newspaper articles about the site/owners/agents that run it).

Or try first, to test the water, a phone call to the Head Office 'contact us' number for the Stores - but that can be hit and miss with a huge call centre of students with no life experience and no clue about anything unusual like this!

  • Hi everyone, I'm back, unfortunately. I had a pretty rough Christmas and actually forgot all about this ongoing nonsense. However, today I came back to my mum's to find a debt recovery letter waiting for me. Lucky me!

I'm not sure what to do. I haven't yet contacted any of the shops I was buying from on the day even though I said I would. As I say, Christmas wasn't what I expected and this took a back seat, rightly or wrongly. Am I OK to ignore this letter? Really? They lie by saying court judgement can affect credit in the future, which I know isn't true. They also claim the full amount is now £160, which is the first I've heard of it (it was £100 the last time UKPC got in touch). Kindly, they are offering a 'reduced payment' of £128. I don't wish to pay this and actually am really angry about the whole thing. They are now harassing me because I spent money in shops, which is ludicrous.

I'm debating whether to phone Next tonight and ask to speak to the manager (if they're still open) or go in on Thursday (I'll be home too late from work tomorrow to do it). I also wonder if I should just contact the retail park directly or try it with the shops first? I realise you've said they're not going to take it to court but for some reason the letter is making me think they might. Is this a fake debt recovery thing?

Ugh, I wish they'd just leave me alone, I'm sick fed up of them. I refuse to park in the car park since, I just loathe their whole set-up.
