  • As a reminder, although they have addressed me as the keeper, I am also the driver and probably let that become quite obvious when I appealed, so I'm not sure exactly where I stand with that. Stupid, I know, but there you go...

Basically, just checking - still ignore, right?

Yes but to be clear to newbies reading this, the advice currently is ONLY ''ignore'' where the OP is in Scotland/NI.

Watch the Watchdog clip you'll find by Googling 'Watchdog how to deal with private parking'. That clip still applies in Scotland/NI.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hello, sorry to say I'm back!

I have received a Notice to Keeper letter from UKPC stating that as the driver hasn't paid the £60 'early discount' charge, I now have to pay the £100. They tell me that I have 28 days in which to do so or they will forward my details on to a debt recovery agency (which I don't believe will be genuine after reading posts here). They have even enclosed a payment slip for my convenience! The letter has typos throughout and is fairly shabby. They have however also included a photo taken of my car and say that there are other images online, which I am not entirely happy about.

Basically, just checking - still ignore, right?

    Hi chickadee,

    Don't worry - situation normal.

You can expect the next letter at the end of December, or early January.

Do NOT reply to them and after a few months they ought to give up as usual.

    Keep us posted.

Forget about them and have a happy Xmas.

Cheers, thought so, needed a hand-hold there, hah.

I'm annoyed they printed a photo, for some reason. I don't know why I'm annoyed but I am. It's so blurry and rubbish though, what kind of cameras do they use?! jeez.

Considering sending an annoyed letter to Next (I also shopped there that day) asking to have it cancelled. Maybe I'll wait till the next letter and then get really angry. Right now I'm just bored of it and wish they'd go away.

I had a charge slapped on my car by this bunch of useless waste of time chancers well over a year ago.
At that time the advice was to ignore their pathetic threats, lies and follow up junk mail from Debt Recovery+ and Zenith!
I did and they moved on to some other poor target.
Their fake parking attendants, in their fake uniforms are too lazy to take both hands out of their pockets to take a decent photo with their little Argos digital cameras. That's why the photos are blurred!

I actually ended up talking to one of their attendants a couple of months ago, after giving him some abuse (I thought he was ticketing a lady), he was actually trying to help her!
He said he had only been working there a week and only ticketed people in disabled bays, and then only if he couldn't find them to speak to them as he wanted to be fair with people. Guess what? I have never seen him again!

He'd be no good to any PPC, he was trying to undertake some proper car park management. Extremely bad for business!

Small wonder he's had his cards, and is now probably blacklisted by the entire BPA AOS network. :)

  • Hi everyone, hope you all had a good Christmas.

I came home for the holidays to find another letter from UKPC demanding the charge. It's headed 'final reminder' in 'scary' red background and says that if I don't pay, they will tell a debt recovery company to act on their behalf. It also says that if necessary they will initiate proceedings in a Sheriff Court and that if I don't pay after court it'll affect my credit etc. I already thought that this sort of charge doesn't affect credit?

I guess the rest is lies, right? I mean, is this still just standard? If they send a further 'debt recovery' letter can I also ignore this? I knew they'd send another but it's been a pretty stressful Christmas and to come home to this is just making me so angry. It's also dated about a week before I even received it, which obviously means that time is cut off from the 'payment window', which also makes me angry. Basically, grrrr!

What's so scary about red ink ? The advice is still to ignore as you are in Scotland, they won't be going to a court for this as ukpc are utterly useless in this. Unless you get a notice to claim ignore them
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

That's the right attitude be angry rather than scared, just the normal threats and lies from a scam company that only wants your money for doing very little to earn it.
They really are the pits these people, they are just inventing as many scare tactics to extort money from people. Just ignore them and the Debt Recovery plus letters that will follow.

    Hi chickadee

Hope you enjoyed Christmas and the letter from UKPC hasn't spoilt it too much.

As you already know UKPC do not exactly rush to court and are extremely unlikely to run off to the Sheriff Court any time soon. Very few cases have ever been issued north of the border and based on UKPC's distinct dislike of English County Courts the chances of them going to the Sheriff Court become vanishingly small. Almost as vanishingly small as that spacecraft falling on your house!

Chill. And have a really good New Year.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com
