That adds up to 23 hours, do you get any working tax credits?

Yes I do get some, and yes I am aware that they are benefits.

Well you did say "I would rather be cleaning than relying on benefits". It's both really.

Whatever. I'll be clearer next time. Maybe I should have said "I would rather be working than not working".

You're not really picking fault with someone who is getting off their backside and helping themself are you? WTC were designed for people exactly like SE, who does the best they can for themselves and just needs a bit of a top up.

No I was just pointing out that the person was receiving benefits as well as working.

But why would you do that? Do you think they don't know?

' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".

The person posted "I would rather be cleaning than relying on benefits" when the truth was it was working and benefits.
  • OP - you should be taking any work which gets you off JSA so long as it is legal and safe to do and is at least minimum wage. Some cleaning jobs actually pay more than I earn as a teacher (not State school so lower wages). You seem to have a high opinion of your abilities and what jobs you should be entitled to. It is not your prerogative as a long term unemployed person to pick and choose to such a high degree. You take any old job and then you have the luxury of looking about for something better.

You could also improve your Maths at no cost to yourself as the Government is offering funding to anybody without level 2 qualifications in English and Maths.
