    Afternoon everyone,

We are in Edinburgh now. DH is sorting out the car while I'm in the B&B using the laptop. :D It was pretty awful yesterday and this morning saying our goodbyes and quite a few tears were shed. I also was given some lovely gifts which was a total surprise. They were from Caithness Glass and I love them. I had to ditch more stuff to fit them in though. DH had to sacrifice his toilet bag & 2 shirts. :D

    Thriftlady Great experiment.
    Lowrob Welcome aboard.

Well off to check out the chicks. Hope you all have a great day. Byeeeeeeee

Hi everyone! Welcome to all newbies.
The daily is very exciting today...congratulations penpin on your new arrivals. Looking forward to news of your new additions! It must have been horrible to lose all your other ones to the foxes but nature is red in tooth and claw isn't it. I was watching the foxes in my friend's garden last week and she in turn is feeding them dog food whilst they have cubs. It's the fact they'll take the whole lot of birds whether or not they'll eat them that's not so pleasant.
Am also looking forward to reading your thread Thriftlady. From memory they used to eat quite a bit of whale meat back then according to Marguerite Patten. It's funny how times have changed. I remember the fascinating series they did a few years back with the family who lived in the 1940s house and the wife saying how much her shopping habits had changed.. afterwards she was only shopping on a daily basis from local shops [bit like Cooltrikerchicks challenge] and wasting nothing. They shed a lot of weight whilst doing the experiment.
Nothing so exciting here I am afraid although some good news... Southern Water are paying us £105 compensation...straight into the Canada pot methinks:D and best of all we're going to book our trip in two weeks time:j
OS today has been bathroom cleaning and decorating my sister's birthday cake for this evening. Am joining my folks for lasagne in celebration. Also managed to get some muffins [raspberry and white choc] made on Sunday but haven't tried them as put them straight into the freezer out of temptations way.
Dannahaz...if I asked ever so nicely please could you divulge your recipe for lemon and pear marmalade. Sounds scrummy. Hope to make strawberry jam beginning of next week.
    Have a good day!

Dinner tonight is chicken and bacon tortellini with a hm tomato, bacon and mushroom sauce and garlic doughballs.

This sounds gorgeous. Where can I find the recipe?

Pollyanna I PM'd you earlier today with the info. Posting here just to make sure you got it.

Just replaced the sealant around one side of the bath and my hands are all sticky. Yuk. The bath looks much better though so :j . Got quite a few other jobs done today too but I think I will have to try and get some more done tonight. Just need to get a boost of energy from somewhere.

I have a visitor coming to stay next week so I'm trying to get all those jobs done that I have been putting off for months. At least the house will sparkle at the end of it.

    Off again. xx

    Hi all
I finished early today, I was owed an hour, so I took it.
Had some bad news though, my 2nd job that I do is finishing at the end of term, it seems that as I hadn't been paid, my wages hadn't appeared on the budget & so now it's sorted the budget is empty, so no more work for me, it's so depressing, all those weeks of work with no pay & then when I do get paid they realise they can't afford me.
So I will be looking for temp work during the holidays & for another evening job. Sometimes I just feel like climbing into bed & never getting out.
Must go & start cooking, the lodger will be in soon.
    Hugs Hester

    Afternoon All

Hiya to the newbies and (((hugs))) to all in need of one. Safe trip home Aussielass.

Been to Gulivers World in Warrington on the nursery school trip. LO had a ball and has crashed out on the sofa which is not a good omen for tonight. Will try and wake her in aminute for some Chilli and rice for tea.

Feeling much better today back to work tomorrow but only for half a day then its off to the libary in the afternoon with the LO and home to do some serious decluttering and tidying.

Have a good evening everyone (I've got the joy of next months budget to look at).

    Hiya

feeling a bit better now, feeling tired though:rolleyes:

Going to the dentist was loads of fun!! NOT! cost me 42 pounds but bad news is i need 3 fillings and i have been told i have extensive gum disease:eek: which means 2 trips to the hygenist, this is so going to cost a lot, as it is private! was told if i left it for another 5 years then i would start losing my teeth! didnt think my teeth were that bad:rolleyes:

Then got some bits from tesco, then back for sports day, mum offered to look after lo for an hour or so so she took him out a walk.

Sports day went well for the kids, ds1 got a gold and 2 silvers, so excited for him, ds2 tried really hard but sadly didnt get anything, he doesnt mind though:D

Dh is off to the hotel where we are thinking of getting our meals from for our anniversery, so he will see what there is on offer:D

He was getting annoyed with his mum on the phone, yet again! as to why his aunts never came in to see lo when they were outside in their cars on saturday and why no one saw him in the hospital! all the stuff about his sisters wedding coming up again, i cant go as lo will not be fit to go so dh and kids are only staying for service, which has really peeved off everyone basically.

What started the aggro today was that his mum asked him was he wearing his kilt, dh explained no he would be wearing shirt and trousers, he is not keen to be getting a kilt which will cost over 40 pounds just for under an hour!

She was not amused and i all i could hear was dh's voice getting louder! she kept on saying if u dont want to go, just say so! now i remember why we went to gretna to get married! :rotfl:

Right have to put bread on etc and planning on going fruit picking this weekend, only strawberries so far, rasps will be ready next month.

    Hugs
