I can only say what I see on the news and what I've gleaned from documentaries.

When there's trouble over flegs or murials you see Billy Hutchinson and Winky Irvine being wheeled out as "community representatives" for the loyalists. These men are both UVF - simple as that. The UVF had promised to disband but they haven't. Instead they're responsible for all the drug running in various parts of Belfast and have been shooting people who cross them, even a young woman a few weeks ago.

The same happens on the nationalist side. I'm less familiar with the names there but the same thing happens and for the same reasons.

Everything is orechestrated. The "community representatives" will say that violence and protests are spontaneous, as is any response, but that's not true. It's organised with clear tactics and a long term strategy in mind. The same thing goes for murials. They aren't just painted by passionate people. Their appearance is planned and sends a message.
