Warm Home discount - how ?

I applied through my supplier (Scottish Power) for the £135 rebate on our dual fuel (We do meet the eligibility through low income) - 2 weeks ago and received a ref number by return
However, I have just received an email from SP - Informing me that I now need to apply through DWP
Is this correct ?
I thought that the suppliers were supposed to administer the scheme ?
The DWP link on the email says :
You qualify for the discount if on the ‘qualifying day’ (20 July 2013) your supplier was part of the scheme, your name (or your partner’s) was on the bill and you were either:
Some suppliers can offer the discount to vulnerable people (eg those on a low income).
Each supplier has their own rules about who else (known as the ‘broader group’) can get this help.
Check with the supplier if you meet their rules for broader group help and how to apply for it.

- 75 or over and getting the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit (even if you get Savings Credit)
- under 75 and only getting the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit (you won’t qualify if you also get Savings Credit)

If you did [Core Group] qualify, you, and all contributing suppliers would already have been notified in writing by the DWP. If you are sure you qualify as core group write or ring the DWP and ask them for written confirmation.
Have you received written confirmation from the DWP ?Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. No - nothing received from DWP - But I didn't expect anything - since we are not "on benefits" (except for DLA) - Just trying to scrape a living on low wages !!0 -
If you are in the broader group you need to contact Scottish Power, not the DWP. Email the Rep who posts on here, he seems pretty helpful.0

Found him - but am unable to PM him - the option is not available !0 -
This is taken from Gov.UK website;
You qualify for the discount if on the ‘qualifying day’ (20 July 2013) your supplier was part of the scheme, your name (or your partner’s) was on the bill and you were either:- 75 or over and getting the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit (even if you get Savings Credit)

"How do I get the Money?"
You do not actually get the money in your hand, it is a credit put on your bill by the energy supplier, so a discount as it were and not a cash payment.0 -

Found him - but am unable to PM him - the option is not available !
- SP are not, and have not, been active on MSE for some loooong time !
- core group have the same criteria, broader group are different criteria between the different providers
- in your case SP criteria for the broader group is here
- ask SP on this freephone : Broader Group Criteria – 0800 027 2700
- or login to your personal SP account and request a callback here
50Twuncle, if you are 'not on benefits' you will be unlikely to get core group, and are likely to have an annual income of £16,190+ so will have difficulty even getting broader group status. Apply anyway and see how you get on.
NOTE : Make sure if you request a callback you have given SP your correct telephone numberDisclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
