Both a bit on the small side and a trek away - i'm not that far from you.
Got a feeling that the Jeep isn't really free... and old cronky Cherokee but not a Wrangler.0 -
There's a few Mavericks on Gumtree, in your price range.

They're essentially a Terrano, with a different badge.
Selectable 2 or 4 wheel drive, and low range.
Towing capacity of 2.8 Tonnes, which should be plenty, unless you plan to pull houses down with it.
I take it you have category C1E on your licence?0 -
Yep.. I've got C1E but not planning on towing anything.
All the Mavericks are miles away and a good £100 in fuel - bar the Manchester one but that was two weeks ago.
There's a Santa Fe http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231087799289?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2648 and they'll take £550.0 -
Just made an offer on a Terrano - 2.7diesel. MOT'ed till September with 10 months tax, comes with off road tyres and 4 new road tyres that'll be included in the sale.0
-
Nice one.
They're good, solid vehicles, and, being a diesel, it'll be miles per gallon, instead of gallons per mile.
As to the tyres, if they're All Terrain, rather than Mud Terrain, I wouldn't bother changing them.
I used Wide Conquerors for nearly 2 years (about 15k per year), on a daily 50 mile round trip (mostly motorway), and they're quite usable, without too much noise and vibration.0 -
Heard nothing back with the person with the Terrano, don't think he wants to sell it as it's not been declined, accepted or had notification that he's accepted another.
But I've paid a deposit on something else without seeing it  could be one for the bangernomics thread. It's a Passat Syncro Estate... full leather interior, full service history, last service 1000 miles ago and the same owner since 2003. Paid £700 with 6 months tax (advertised at £600 with no tax).
As it's the Syncro / 4motion it's the 4x4 V6 model.0 -
It'll be a Syncro... 4 Motions's a completely different set up.
Cracking cars with the 2.8 engine...0 -
it is the Syncro, just thought they were the same as they seem to get grouped together when people mention them.
I had a Golf Highline a few years ago, although hopefully this one will be more reliable.0 -
Without following the links, I haven't seen anyone mention the Honda CR-V - they can get down below a grand sometimes...0
-
I couldn't find the CR-V under a grand, only the H-RV0
