I have spent more than 2 hours on the telephone to AOL Despite all he asked me to do it was unsuccessful He instructed me to go to the this 192 168 cant remember the rest of that We got to a page where he for user name and password He asked me to put in my telephone no and @dialbb Cant remember the rest Then go to connect and it took me back to the Username and Password At one stage it did go to X Red Internet not connected and the other parts were green and OK He ran some tests and then I had to use my Mobile while he checked things out.
At the end of this no joy so he said he would pass it to another engineer who would check it out.
I then went back to the Netgear which is the old Router and for a fairly lengthy period failed to get online I then took all the cables out and waited After doing this about 3 times I did get a connection. Someone is supposed to call me back. Oh when I had to click on something or other the details it says on the back of the Router wireless name and Wireless password but when I clicked connect it all returned to the beginning.

Currently I am having some problems with the laptop getting on line but refusing to let me enter any letters like www.aol.com or such I can live with that for now.

That is where I stand looks like it might be messed up even further. Sorry but thought I should let you know where I am at. Question Could the Router be faulty . I do use a chap who works on any problems I have so will speak to him but am tempted to wait and see if AOL get back to me.

Further The laptop when I press keys to type is won't It is bringing up page with pictures stored. I can live with that for now as at least the desktop is working. Does anyone have any idea why the keys won't type I have got a wifi connection which says strong.
Sorry about this question and I do appreciate your patience with me! I must be the worse person you have had to deal with ever and I thank you for persisting with me.

I have now resolved the problem with the keys I went to control panel and looked for Keys and then tried it which printed out and once I did this the keyboard on the laptop is back in action.

You appear to going round in circles and getting confused, if you find it difficult then I suggest you get someone in who knows what they are doing.

Why call TT for the same advice that's already been given to you several times on here already? You already know how to reach the router log-in page, so if you can do that, then the cabling is now correctly connected.
You just need to put in the info required, which is probably your correct AOL username and password. If it keeps booting you out at that stage, you must be putting in the wrong info.
You won't be able to connect to anywhere on the internet with this router until you do this properly.
Don't expect TT tech support to call you back or solve anything for you-they're notoriously useless.
Concentrate on fixing one issue before introducing another, as you seem to be getting sidetracked into things that are not relevant.
The TT ethernet set up info for your router is on this link. Print it out and follow it:

I am delighted to report that the new Router is up and running and is also connected wirelessly to my laptop.
I printed off all the pages as you told me to and followed it to a tee. I got the necessary information password etc from AOL
I printed it last night but left it until this morning to have another go. I could not believe it when the orange light went out.
Once again I would like to thank all of you both for your help and persisting with me even when I felt like giving up. I had decided that I was going to get someone to come and look at it. Just one more try! The wireless connection seemed to work pretty easily when I followed the instructions you guided me to.
Hopefully I won't need to trouble anyone again for quite some time.

Thanks to all again. I was going around in circles and getting nowhere. Having the printed information in front of me and using the desktop and looking on the laptop this did help.
I am pleased to say that I have been able to connect my phone by using the new passwords etc also my Kindle I would not have been able to do so had it not been for all of you guiding me with the Router. It was absolutely simple when I knew what I was doing. So thanks again.
Still not sure about the phone in relation to Internet usage. Got my bill but cant see where it tells me how much I have used. I have been able to do this previously but don't seem to be clicking the correct button.
I muddle along and I am now able to go online look at Email FB so that is progress.I asked the question the other day about spam and I did as you said and unliked and that did take some of it away but it still kept coming
In the end I changed my password on Facebook and this has solved the problem.
I appreciate your patience with me and yes early on I may have had the same advice but my mind was fuddled with it all. Please be assuared that there was no disrespect intended . My family buy me all these new things and once I get it sorted I love it all !! Wonder what new toy I will receive this Christmas !
