Hello all you car geniuses!!!!

As you may have guessed I know very little about cars!!!

Recently my cars breaks felt terrible. I took them into Kwic Fit who said that it would cost £586 to fix them, this did include a half service!

They said the parts they would need to get would be:-
-wheel assembly hub
-Bearings
-Stabilisers
-Links
-pads
plus Labour.

Any help or advice on this would be great.

Thanks.

I have not been a fan of kwic fit and never use them usually!

Unfortunately I did not have a choice today as I need my car for next week and it was the only place open!!!

probably because it's Quick Fit but there's no mention of what car it is and if it's front / back or all round. there's also no mention of discs

Issues with brakes will usually be discs and pads, then you can have calliper and shoes. The hub is the big bit that holds the wheel on, the bearings are part of the hub assembly and links and stabilisters aren't really brake related.

It's as though you need new brakes and they've decided to throw a few more things in (wheel bearings and hub need to be done together depending on the car) and drop links
  • If you try and get a serious problem on your car fixed on a weekend then you'll probably end up in the hands of a fast fit joint.

To get a fair alternative diagnosis it need to be looked at either by yourself if you are able to do such things or by a competent mechanic...competent mechanics usually knock off Fri afternoons or Sat lunchtime latest.

As a rough guide if its a Bentley then the prices sound fiar.
