Did you use the PAC Code? You say you asked for one but not if it was used. PAC codes are not normally valid to move in side the same company, you normally need to port out and back, but given Orange and TM are the same company not sure how that would work, did the PAC code work, or was it an internal upgrade.
Orange to T-Mob definitely requires a PAC.0 -

That's good to have this confirmed - thanks.
Therefore T- Mobile used the PAC and I had abided by all of Orange's T & Cs. Orange must have a record of the PAC being used, any ideas of what could have gone wrong?
I'm really ticked off with Orange! They suggest they have no record of me calling in April - how did I get the PAC then, guesswork?!!0 -

If your number was 'changed' by T-Mob due to nuisance calls, it is entirely possible (and probable by what you describe) that T-Mob just gave you a new connection and didn't use the PAC.
Did you ever use your old number on T-Mob or was it only ever the new one? If the latter, then it sounds like it's T-Mob's fault rather than Orange's.0 -
I would keep a log of all time spent dealing and bill at the Court allowed rate of £18 per hour.
Their time is not free, why should yours be so.
If they fail to pay your reasonable expenses, sue.Be happy...;)0 -

Not sure this is the best advice considering it is possible from what Pont said about changing numbers, that this might be T-Mobile's fault.0 -

Also -this doesn't 'excuse' Orange for making a false statement saying that I asked about 'upgrades' - I didn't.
Surely as both Orange and T-Mobile are both EE, it would have been relatively easy to check records?
I've been going around in circles (spending money and time) for the past 6 months or so trying to get this sorted. the only response I've had from Orange is after I raised a CISAS complaint. I am really unhappy about having my credit rating trashed in the meantime.0 -
PAC won't have been used then as it's for porting the number
As it stands to me you took out a new contract with new number from t mobile
You didn't use PAC code and if you didn't call orange back they haven't had any notice
All you can hope is that Orange accept you didn't understand the process and if your old number hasn't been used they agree to waive at least some of the debt as unfortunately it would seem that you are liable even if advice has been misleading0 -
Never used my old number - only the new one.
Sounds like the PAC was never used then and that is why the Orange bill is there. Technically the bill is correct by the sounds of it. So not Orange's fault because the PAC expired and the account continued to run as they advised.
I think the fact that they have offered to wipe the bill and clean your credit file is more than acceptable if the above is correct. It is much easier and cheaper for them to do this.
Obviously I don't know for definite if this is correct without knowing the bills or accounts but it sounds more than possible.0 -

You said in your OP, that you called to ask about 'deals' and when theu couldn't offer you anything, asked for your PAC. This is classed as enquiring about an upgrade.
It is not as straight forward as being the same company - they are owned and are part of the same parent company EE. However for the purpose of billing, accounts, customer service, offers etc, they are different networks and have different systems.
So an Orange rep would no more have access to T-Mob's systems as someone who worked for O2 would.0
