Thanks to this thread I've just found out that I can freeze peppers. We use a lot of peppers and they are so expensive. I can now buy them when on offer and freeze for up to 6 months.

Does anyone have any ideas what I can do with plums and satsumas to keep them? I'm going back to my mum and dad's for Christmas and won't get round to eating them before I go. I don't really want to make jam, but have no idea what else I could do with them! Can plums be frozen?
Thanks in advance!!0 -
I've frozen plums before. A bit stumped on satsumas. I think I have a satsuma marmalade recipe if you are interested.0

the plums will freeze ok, I would make a plum crumble and freeze it
The only thing I can think of with the satsumas is to make pot pourri or put cloves in them and hang them up to add a christmassy smell in the houseKeely0 -
Like Keelyjrs - I cook plums and freeze them , useful then for quick crumbles or we sometimes have them with pancakes or ice cream.
Not sure about satsumas though. Unless you slice them, bake them in a fairly low oven and hang them on the Christmas tree ???:hello:

The plums will freeze fine, cook them or at least de-stone them first. They will be fine for a pie or crumble. Alternatively you could make them into a pie or crumble and freeze that.
Satsumas, I would freeze for marmalade, just as they are, but if you don't want to do that, why not just take them with you if they are ok? Or squeeze them and freeze the juice?0 -
Plums will last for quite some time in the fridge...satsumas are a more difficult option though. You could take them to eat with you on the journey?
Actually why don't you take the lot to your parent's home - presumably there's a better chance of them being enjoyed there?Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
