Somewhere different for a family holiday?

Hi
We are a family of 5 (3 children age 13,10 and 9). For the past few years we have been to Florida but now we are looking for somewhere different. We have a budget of about £6000. We normally go on holiday in October. I want to go somewhere different but not to far off the beaten path because of the children.
Any suggestions?

What do you want do do on holiday?
Sunbathe? Drive? Investigate local culture?0 -
Is that for one week or two ?
Had you considered cruising ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Hi
We don't sunbathe.
We like to get out and about and do things, investigate the local culture etc as well as leaving plenty of time splash about in the pool and relax. I dont like "organised" holidays, rather a chance to do things when the fancy takes us. Even in Florida we spent little time in the parks.
I would like somewhere warm. I was thinking Jordan but I am not sure how the children would manage.0 -
We can go for up to three weeks.
My husband would not go on a cruise. I have suggested it but no way.0 -
South Africa? A game park?Debt-free...and staying that way...0

Thailand, you'll get a lot for your money and it's a lovely country filled with wonderful people, and great food.0

You obviously love Florida but theres an awful lot more of the US to see-
Does it need to be beachy ? October the NE is gorgeous with the fall colours but isn't beach weather even though that coast has some great beaches. The west coast , LA to San Francisco maybe (Vegas isn't awfully child friendly but is a good start point for Yosemite and the Grand Canyon and it would be pool/beach weather.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Don't forget to factor in £360 for the penalties imposed by the schools for taking them out during term-time! (3 kids x 2 parents x £60):heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Playa Blanca Lanzarote. Completely different from Florida, and yet often as warm, and a very different area and culture to explore. Hire car essential.0

I know how you feel. We have done Florida to death for the last seven years but we still love the place. Next year we fancied a change so we have booked Los Angeles. We are going to go to Disneyland California and then go check out Hollywood, can't wait:D0
