Working people - and dogs

And I had some walks ruined by people putting up a "picnic" on what is so clearly and obviously a walking path - for both people and their dogs. AND leaving behind more mess (wrappers, plastic bags, bottles, cups, chicken bones, food leftover etc etc) than any dog possibly could. How very selfish of them.
My dog will not bother you when you have a picninc in your private garden or area marked "no dogs allowed" so please do not bother me and my dog in public open spaces.
And do not put my dog's life (and wildlife's) at risk but allowing your children to leave dangerous items behind. Or doing it yourself.
You bring your picnic in carrier bags - take your rubbish and leftovers away in the same bags.
It seems you have taken my comments personally as you seem to be having a go at me for: litter I have never left behind and inappropriate picnic spots I have never sat in?
For your info I am completely anti-litter and the parks that I was having picnics in all had signs that said dogs must be on leads.

To be fair, your original comment was very personal - asking GR if she let her dog off in public spaces, because you have had picnics ruined by other dogs (without knowing if her dog has ever disturbed anyone's picnic or caused issues with children).
If you dislike being 'had a go at' for generalised behaviours you are not guilty of, what makes you think GR does either?0 -
As Krlyr said.. exactly.0

I wouldn't even be able to hold on to a flexi if they really wanted something so I have to use the long line with a walking belt. Not sure if that's an option for you?0 -

Interesting. So presumably public spaces are only to be used by dogs on leads.
Oh, won't someone think of the children?
When I last looked, there was no law, even an unwritten one, that dogs should not be off leads.
I frequently wish that children were kept on leads, but again, sadly there is no law requiring this.
And that's speaking as someone who doesn't let my dog off his...0 -

Actually for info, there are some laws for specific occasions.
Near sheep, near wild nesting birds in the closed season, in dog controlled areas etc. This may be useful reading: -

"Any more posts you want to make on something you obviously know very little about?"
Is an actual reaction to my posts, so please don't rely on anything I say.

The last few answers reminds me of when we took our 2 year old collie into the outside seating part of a cafe for a quick cuppa. We asked if it was OK to the person seating everyone and he said quite abruptly as long as she is well behaved. After sitting there for half an hour with Skye lying down watching the world go by while we had our drinks he came up and actually aplogised saying that if only the kids who were running riot were as behaved as our dog.
The parents were oblivious to what they were doing and let them just run around, several times almost standing on Skyes feet. Yes I have children as well, 18 and 14 now, but they were bought up better than this and if in a cafe or restaurant would sit and behave themselves and would respect other diners.0 -

After having every single picnic this year ruined by dogs (and their owners failing to say sorry) I think it was very selfish of them.
Seriously?
Why the beep shouldn't dogs be off lead - in places where it's allowed?
I (and many other dog owners I've spoken to over the summer) have been absolutely astounded at the absolute stupidity of people who set up camp / picnic area around 50 feet from the entrance to the beach - in direct line to the sea .... and then wonder why nearly every dog runs past them  errr they're in a hurry to get into the sea
If they walked a couple of hundred feet to the left / right & set up camp / picnic area there - they wouldn't be bothered by the dogs or their owners .... but they're too lazy / selfish / stupid to do that
Ohhhh and kids on leads - wouldn't that be wonderful
Why should my dog & I have to be bothered by other people's screaming kids running up / throwing things at us!
And as for the litter that's left behind ......
Apparently there's a beach in Whitley Bay where 1/2 is people only and 1/2 dogs are allowed - and people set up picnics in the dog bit ... and then moan because there's dogs on the beach .... OMG if they had a brain they'd be dangerous!:mad:Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!0 -

Yep, people want dogs banned totally from that beach. Won't happen though, Whitley Bay is a relatively dog friendly area, we go a few times a year to the carvan site. The lovely cafe on the beach, Rendezvous Cafe has lots of custom from dog walkers so they certainly won't want them banned either... they allow dogs in, although Mr Logan made a fuss so I sat outside with him as didn't want to cause a scene with him whining lol.
Logan gets a long line on the beach, as I don't trust him fully not to either swim away or run away with another dog lol.:rotfl:0 -

I took my two to the beach for the first time this summer just gone (and from their reaction I think it was the first time in their lives!). It was absolutely amazing, miles of empty beach and they were in heaven. It must be wonderful living close enough to go every day.
Although they did stink to high heaven afterwards...0
