Induction hob v gas hob in kitchen

Maybe its just mine but I hate my SMEG induction hob. The power comes out in bursts so a pan will bubble while the spurt of power is going then a second later it disappears.
You can't control the heat and simmering is out of the question.
I bought it about 7 years ago and hardly ever use it. I microwave or use the oven most of the time.
On my experience I'd say go for gas but so many others seem to be happy with their induction hobs.
My experience is the reverse. With my AEG induction hob slow simmering is a doddle. With gas its very difficult to turn the heat down sufficiently.
And at the high temperature end, induction works better. Wok cooking works well though you do need a flat bottomed wok.0 -
If induction was better than gas, all the professional cooks and chefs would be using them. They're not.
michel roux jr was on the one show last night and he said that he was in the process of switching his kitchens over to induction as they were much cheaper to run compared to gas0 -

I think you have hit the nail on the head. Induction in the home is new. 7 years ago it was very new and hadn't really been tested When you bought it was like buying 24/7 Internet. Nowadays we have huge broadband speeds. Technology marches on. The hob I bought has been preceded so many times its like trying to run xp in a windows 8 world
One good thing is that prices have dropped dramatically,it's easy to upgrade and because the hobs don't get " weather beaten" they can be sold0 -
Does anyone know what the wattage typically is? I would have assumed it is like a 3kw kettle thereby having high energy consumption with say 2 or 3 burners on?Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0

Also, what do most people have in the way of ovens when they used an induction hob. Do you stick with gas or electric oven?Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0

My induction hob is rated at 7.4kW. If I remember correctly it needed a dedicated heavy duty cable connection to the fusebox. The individual heating zones have a high power option used for bringing pans to boiling point very quickly.0 -
That sounds very expensive!Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0

I have an electric oven as I don't have access to gas. But actually I'd chose an electric oven anyway. Easy to keep clean.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Any more posts you want to make on something you obviously know very little about?"
Is an actual reaction to my posts, so please don't rely on anything I say.0
