would get a nice shark gill MG ZS for 2k seen on the tracks many times. xpower used to race them.0

how about a honda prelude 2.2 vtec model ?0

Either some Jap turbo nutter, or something like an e36 328i.
Is speed *really* what you want from a trackday car, though? It's about fun, surely, where a car that handles well is going to be much better than a big barge.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -

To be fair he did say "fastest", and then people criticised my suggestion. A modded 5 series can do around 180mph, and it will go around the Nurburgring sub 9 minutes.
I don't know where you can get that for around £2K.
Apart from what I suggested.0 -
I cant think of any 5 series around this price range that could do that, modified or otherwise... (an e39 M5 is >£5k!)To be fair he did say "fastest", and then people criticised my suggestion. A modded 5 series can do around 180mph...Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -
another vote for the MG ZS180 here; can be picked up for well under a grand now, and will do the 'Ring in around 9m 30s once you know it.The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

agreed. Get the manual tho - can pick them up for under a grand. 200bhp, 0-60 in 6.7ish. not likely to break either on track days.0 -
I've seen this come up for under £2k before, might be fun on a track and it's no stranger to being driven at speed. 280bhp standard too.

Although I'd prefer something nimble, I know someone who races a turbo'd Miata and it's pretty quick.0 -

A 2.0 GTi Golf?
The MK4 one with 105HP?
Errrrrr.... no thanks.
(my girlfriend has one - it's not bad. But there are hundreds of cars I'd rather have on track!)Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0
