It's sad that somebody so young values money more than their pride and dignity.0

Hmmm...would have to be for the post office wouldn't it? My experience with them and having things stolen doesn't fill me with confidence when they are employing people with just a basic check ;(
Re convictions and employment - I've seen pages long CRBs (at the time) that haven't stopped people from working for my organisation. If they are declared and people upfront AND they have a period free from trouble then a simple risk assessment is undertaken and they are allowed to work for us. Rehabilitation of offenders is just that - someone has to give people a chance...BUT honesty is always the best policy.
OP stop obsessing about what criminals have, you want to be better than them and that means working for what you have rather than hurting others to get what you want0 -
Hmmm.
You made some mistakes as a teenager. Than you had some driving offences. That can be accepted by employer, if you are genuine about it. Even at the interview - saying- they were the mistakes from a few years ago, now you are older and wiser etc.
What I don't understand is:
Trying hard not to commit any further offences. Sorry. For a person like me you don't have to "try hard". You naturally know what is wrong (unacceptable). And you would never do anything to harm anyone or anything. Without even thinking. Working as a postman you will be handling peoples personal information (doctor's letters, bank statements, parcels) and may be tempted to use it for your own benefit. With your attitude..hmm... I don't think you are the right person for the job.
And what is your point with slaggieng off people, who work for Tesco? Without them you wouldn't have F***ing food to buy. Sorry mate, everyones job matters.
I hope everything will turn right for you. And I hope you will start to have some respect for others. Only thing you can do, if you will loose the job, because of standard/enhanced CRB is write the letter to HR, that they should be more clear in their recruitment process. Without threatening, that you will be back friends with bad boys...0 -
in answer to sew109 - juvenile convictions do show up on standard and enhanced checks.
The post office do standard checks not basic, thats what I had before my employment started, because I had convictions the position was put on hold until the post master had permission for me to be employed there or not. I was employed there- for the reason being my convictions were 20+ years ago when I was a teenager and I served my sentence and was rehabilitated .0 -

I'm not working for the post office, I'm working for a competitor.
I've worked out what's going on with my situation and everything is fine, I'd appreciate it if this thread was left to sink down to the depths of the forum now.
Thanks to everybody who had a say.0 -

Very few of us, I'd imagine. I'm doing well because, in part, my response to poverty was to go hungry, stay honest, and work for qualifications and training that let me get progressively better jobs.
I really don't understand this modern populist desire to paint the wealthy as unpleasant. If you want to find who tends to be nicer, the very rich, or the very poor, try walking around canary wharf late at night, and then repeat the experiment in New Cross.0 -

But she does write a lot of fiction.;)0
