There goes my job... seriously DEPRESSED

I'm 20something, been out of work for 18months... I've been on the work program (Avanta) during that time.
Recently, I got a new permanent job at a certain company expanding in the UK.
When I filled in my application and CRB at Avanta, everybody did a Basic CRB check, which only shows only unspent convictions... great news for me!
I did my classroom induction at the company, I was individually asked to sign a new blank CRB check (as something wrong on the CRB had been filled in), so I did.. and thought nothing of it...
During the induction everything about the job was discussed... including background checks
"Please make sure you have disclosed EVERYTHING which might show up in a CRB, because of something shows up which you have not declared, no matter what it is... then that is the end of your contract with the company, no questions asked"... they said to the class.
"Don't worry too much, it's only a standard CRB", they said to the class.
WAIT A MINUTE... standard CRB? all 400 people from Avanta filled in a basic CRB...
Did she get her words mixed up?
And this got me thinking, why was I made to sign a new one? are they going to check "standard" instead of "basic"?...
Well if they do, that's me out of the door, because I have spent convictions...
I'm absolutely DEVASTATED with worry at this point, I only declare my unspent driving conviction because that is all I am legally required to declare on a basic CRB... and basic is what we were told to do from the start...
I feel absolutely sick to the bottom of my stomach, and if this goes wrong then legit society can go and F itself because I'll be giving my old mates a call and taking up a much less legit role in the world.
I've tried SO HARD to get myself into a decent job and I was going to LOVE being a postman, but now it looks like it's not going to happen... if this doesn't work out then I can't take this unemployed living for much longer, I'll just get back in with my old mates and 5 grand a month on the faster, darker side of life.
Maybe there is a chance that I am thinking too much into it because it all seemed to good to be true to me, I felt BLESSED with this opportunity and the ONLY worry I had was CRB, when I found out it was basic I was DELIGHTED...
But why did she say "standard" in the induction? why was I made to sign a new blank one due to a "mistake" on the one I already filled out...

Wait and see what happens.
And don't be tempted to call your old friends just yet.
And don't be rude or stroppy to the company. Remove their name from your post. Handle it professionally, whatever happens.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
I thought there was only standard or enhanced. What is the difference between basic and standard. Why didn't you ask at the time?
ETA just found this http://dbsdirect.co.uk/types-of-checks-and-who-they-are-for.php
If anything does come of it just tell them you were told it was a basic search and you didn't need to tell them about anything regarded as spent.0 -
Sounds like she means basic ......just used the word standard instead . Can't see they'd pay for enhanced for temps anyway.
Keep your head down and your nose clean and see what happens.
As for filling in another one - likely they just mislaid but wouldn't say so as it would make them look stupid.
Worst scenario is something flags up and they sack you -but you'll have to be paid for the days you worked-best scenario is nothing happens so you're no worse off waiting to see what happens.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
And do you mean DBS rather than CRB?0

Given the OP's attitude it sounds like the employer would be best to make further checks - if he is willing to resort to criminal behaviour at the first hurdle, he clearly has not changed his ways.0

That link is a more updated description of the category's than what I had been reading...
And my job doesn't seem to fit into the "standard" category, and at the start we did fill out basics... so reading that link has took a little edge of my panic..
But why did she say "standard" in the induction when we all filled out basics...
And isn't it funny how I was asked to sign a new blank one, without seeing whether it not it had been ticked for basic or standard...0 -

It's not the first hurdle, it is the last.
I made mistakes in my teen years, I've kept my nose clean for 10 years besides some driving trouble, I've done nothing for the past 5 years but go to the gym and stay home on my computer... I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't even go out... my nose is squeeky clean and I deserve a chance.
I've finally got one, something better than 20 hours/week shelf stacking (impossible to live on)...
I refuse to live at the bottom of society in terms of money any longer, if this goes wrong, damn right I'm going to sod legit living and go back to my mates who are driving big BMW's and range rovers going on luxury holidays while I've wasted my years trying my hardest to live a legit life, I get one life, I'm not going to waste it living on £50/week benefits or a £100/week part time job.0 -

Terrible attitude. If you resort to crime you will be at the very bottom of society.0
