What kind of attitude is this to take? First sign of trouble and you're threatening to become a rent boy or whatever it is you've got planned. Well you'll not get far in life thinking like that. Hope you're not going to be a postman around my neighbourhood.0

Your only 23 years old for godsake, my husband had been in the army 7 years by the time he was 23 he spent 25 years in that job left and now runs his own business.
Nobody hands it to you on a plate at your age unless your are the scum of society and take to crime as you seem to want to do. If that is your chosen route i heartly hope it's short and sweet and you spend many years in one of her majesty's hotels. And i also hope everything you inflinct on innocent people gets inflicted on you and people you care about.0 -
Hi I think you are worrying for nothing, standard is the same as basic. If they had wanted an enhanced check they would have said enhanced and spelled it out that you had to declare everything.
No need to worry and take what they say here with a pinch of salt. Its more judgemental on here than the bible bashing southern belt of America.
Good luck with your application.0 -

:T
So I guess I'll get no sound advice here then, better off asking somewhere else I see...
I say that if it all goes wrong then I've had enough of trying and I'll just give up on trying to find stability in life... I might as well just get in with my old mates and do what they're doing...
And then all of a sudden that makes me a career criminal and I deserve bad things to happen to my family?
Who are you people?0 -

I agree here. It doesn't seem that it was an enhanced check which would include everything including spent copnvictions.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

It's not, there's 3...
Basic, Standard, Enhanced.
Basic only shows unspent convictions.
Standard shows spent and unspent.
Enhanced shows every piece of information about you that the police have on their records.
During the application process I filled out a basic, it was all good and well..
But in the induction she mentioned something about standard... which puts me in the scheisse. (POSSIBLY got her words mixed up, because everybody else filled out a basic too)... but what makes me panic is that I had to sign a new blank CRB because the one I originally filled out had a mistake on it... so I don't know if they are going to tick basic or standard...
Anyway F it, I'm on edge now and if it does turn out that they do a standard, even though I was told to do a basic... I'm done with adhering to this nonsense of trying to live a stable legit live in 2013 Great Britain... I might even F-off to the French Foreign Legion.0 -
Well good for you, if you're satisfied with working 20 hours/week at tesco, struggling to get by and bus'ing it to work in the morning... just as long as you're not "breaking the law"... I wish you all the best in life.
But some people have more hunger than you, more ambition for a finer life style and want to enjoy nicer things in life... unfortunately some of them were not born with a silverspoon stuck up their !!!!, some of them made mistakes in the past... and they don't have legit opportunities..
They have to do it their own way, by any means... some of them invent things, some of them make individual contributions to sciences and arts and get rewarded, some of them start a successful business, some of them reverse stolen cars into the shopfronts of jewellery shops and empty them, some of them supply a demand for drugs...
Some of them are given a decent opportunity in a decent job which allows them to breeze the rent and save up for a nice car, go on holiday once or twice a year...
Either way, they have more money than part timers at tesco.
I clicked on this thread to offer help, but no longer feel the urge to post anything constructive. You won't get much help on here with that attitude.
It must make you feel better looking down on Tesco staff, but they are contributing more to society than you currently are.0 -
but they are contributing more to society and the economy than you currently are.
How? I've tried not to argue here... despite being on the receiving end of a shitload of uncalled-for judgement because I said I might F everything off and join in with my friends from the past...
Regardless of the fact that I've done nothing for the past 10 years besides keep myself on the straight and narrow and try to make a decent life for myself...
So tell me, in the judgmental provocative way that you worded it... how are tesco staff contributing more to society than I am?
Enlighten me... because they certainly don't wake up at 4:30 to deliver your bills and bank statements, and they certainly didn't donate nearly half of their jobseekers allowance to the RSPCA when they were unemployed I'm pretty sure of that, but unfortunately that's all I had the means to do in terms of contribution to society.. how do tesco staff do more than me? stack bread on shelves so that you can buy it? oh yeah I see... how could I ever dream of doing society such a service.. I'll never be as much as an outstanding citizen as they are.0 -

The DBS seems to have three - standard, enhanced, and enhanced with list checks. I can't see any mention of the basic any more.

Regardless of being in England, we used Disclosure Scotland forms...
I can't post links as a new user, but if you google "disclosure scotland" and click on "what is disclosure scotland" on the categories to the left you will understand what I'm talking about.
Can you elaborate on why this might be? seems strange to me come to think of it, but we definitely used Disclosure Scotland forms and they have the 3 I was referring to, Basic, Standard, Enhanced.
Edit: from disclosure scotland
Regions:
Disclosure Scotland issues Standard and Enhanced disclosures for individuals who are applying for a relevant position in Scotland.
Basic disclosures are available to anyone, throughout the UK, for any purpose.
Organisations that are based in Scotland, who meet the relevant criteria can apply for disclosures in respect of employees who are based outside the UK.
PVG legislation will affect organisations in Scotland, including employers, charities, sporting and voluntary bodies with posts which involve "regulated work" with "children" and/or "protected adults" which used to access Enhanced Disclosures.
Providing UK wide information - Subject Access Requests
Our service covers information held on databases in the UK. Disclosure Scotland has no input into, or responsibility for, producing Subject Access Reports (SARs). If you require a SAR, you should contact the Scottish Police Force in whose area or areas you reside or resided.
If you live or lived in the UK, but outside Scotland, you should contact...
Bulk applications
A Registered Body is an organisation which has registered with Disclosure Scotland and is able to apply for standard, enhanced disclosures amd membership of the PVG Scheme for its employees.
A Responsible Body is one which is enrolled to apply for basic disclosures in bulk only.
Handling bulk applications
One of the benefits of enrollment is the ability to pay for disclosures on an account basis. This is particularly beneficial for organisations that take on a large number of new employees at certain times. Rather than pay for each disclosure individually, we send you a monthly invoice which you must clear by direct debit payment.
If your organisation wants to become a Registered or Responsible body, contact Disclosure Scotland. The annual charge for becoming a Registered Body is £75 (this includes the Lead Signatory and up to four Countersignatories registered at initial registration) plus £15 for each additional registered individual. There are no charges if you apply to become a Responsible Body for invoicing purposes.
Maybe the company uses disclosure scotland due to cost for bulk checks, I hope I'm right because you can only request basic checks if you're from England, which makes sense as I filled in a basic.. I could be completely wrong, but I'm dead certain that our forms were for disclosure Scotland, and I remember thinking "Oh, CRB checks must all be done in Scotland"..0
