    Without seeing your key it's hard to tell as there are different types of cell battery holder for button cells.

    Usually the engraved side makes contact with the side of the holder and the other side (slightly smaller looking) makes contact with the contact in the middle of the holder. There are some battery holders that work the other way though to confuse it all.

    Check that you still have the transponder chip in your key. I suspect this may be an issue as the remote locking shouldn't affect the immobiliser. because despite working from the key, the key technically has two different devices inside for two different systems.

    The other side has nothing in it. It is only a plastic casing. I would have posted a picture but as a newbie it will not let me. :(

    your fob looks very water damaged. and your missing a silver signal transmitter from the PCB board where the battery is located.
