Ive just been onto our LA homes for rent and there are 3 adapted 1 bedroom bungalows on this weeks adverts, as i don't usually visit those sites is this unusal for there to be 3 let alone 1..infact there are several 1 bedroom adapted properties Maybe worth putting your name down and keeping an eye on your LA properties.

Actually there are 7 other 1 bedroom properties...checked last weeks 'expressions' and there was 12 1 bedroom last week...thought there was a shortage..obviously not were i live.

There's not where I live either. In fact the only shortage in 1 beds is sheltered, there's been very few 1 beds in a while.

I get the impression the OP is quite limited in where he wants to live. However given the amount he is spending on taxis it seems worth expanding his search area.

It must be hard upping sticks after 20 years in a home that you are comfy in especially when you are disabled, but there comes a time when other issues such as money worries need to be practically tackled and changes need making.

There are 3 x 1 bed sheltered on there aswell...maybe the 'bedroom tax' is'nt effecting as many people as first thought as there are 5 1 bedroom properties not even bidded on last week.

Something to maybe help you keep warm and keep your electricity bills down - a heated throw. They cost literally pence to run for several hours, the initial cost to buy might be prohibitive (£30 - £40) but in the long run it should save you money and they're brilliant!

    Good luck OP!

Doubt it, they have to house you, but they could force you to move. they could even take you to court or send you to prison.
  • As you are vulnerable they have a duty to provide housing, but that may not be what your deem adequate or in a location of your choice. Why not look into the many helpful suggestions in this thread to stop that happening?

And posting a statement of affairs on the DFW board?

If you need carers you should contact social services, but be aware that your benefits may be reduced as a result.
