My grandad is a wheelchair user and wears thermals in the winter including long johns, artic socks and warm trousers and a jumper, he's even been known to wear a scarf round the house and fingerless mittens. He refuses to put his heating on 24/7 not because he can't afford because he can but because he thinks people that need central heating etc are wimps..he is 87.

Because its adapted, there aren't any adapted smaller properties or else I'd agree with you.

Well depends where you live, I know some 1 bedroom flats have disabled adapted in like for example 1 ground floor flat with a wet room quite a couple of them sort of flats where I live.

I viewed a flat for 1 of them but I turned it down as I am not disabled and don't want a wet room.

I am in a 1 bedroom flat with a shower and a bath and this is not a disabled flat :D

    Just saying ;)

The OP has already said there is nothing suitable in his area.

It's always worth exploring and asking. That's the best long term solution for OP.

Ive just been onto our LA homes for rent and there are 3 adapted 1 bedroom bungalows on this weeks adverts, as i don't usually visit those sites is this unusal for there to be 3 let alone 1..infact there are several 1 bedroom adapted properties Maybe worth putting your name down and keeping an eye on your LA properties.

Actually there are 7 other 1 bedroom properties...checked last weeks 'expressions' and there was 12 1 bedroom last week...thought there was a shortage..obviously not were i live.

Try heating one room, go out less and use delivery for your groceries. Without knowing everything it is hard to make more specific suggestions, just guesses.

What about that gov't money advice service ? They could help you budget better.

I get the impression the OP is quite limited in where he wants to live. However given the amount he is spending on taxis it seems worth expanding his search area.

But he has got no choice to be fussy if he is been risk of been homeless from loosing he's property.

He needs to act fast and maybe look within a few miles for a smaller property.
