It is not available to new customers.

Ah that's a shame - it's a fantastic scheme -£1248 a year for year round household heat and hot water. A similar tariff would see the bill jump up to at least £1450 a year.

Ok I'll play. £4.odd increase doesn't sound right at all. OP lives alone and there could be elements missing from his claim. There's a world of difference between playing a system (which is wrong) and claiming what you should already be claiming (not wrong), is that ok mr newbie.

Ah but I seem to remember that in the past you and others on this site called that 'maximising benefit entitlement' and slated members for doing it.
Nobody 'plays' the system, people sometimes rearrange their affairs/living arrangements that causes more benefits to be paid. Is that wrong or right?
I also understood from past comments that it was preferable to get a job than to claim benefits? Have I misquoted you?
  • The OP is just the person that benefits were intended for. I really feel for you, and agree that the cost of food and heat has increased dramatically in the past year. My husband is disabled and feels the cold terribly, and so we have to have the heating on, more or less constantly.

I haven't any additional advice to give, and there have been some great suggestions, as usual, from MSE posters, but I couldn't just read and run.

I do wish you all the best, and hope things turn out well for you. :)

    xx

If your benefits have gone up by £4.25 per week then clearly you are not solely claiming JSA. As such it should be perfectly feasible to find £60 for your home.

Not at all, of course it's preferable to get a job, don't think OP can though, otherwise it would have been my first suggestion. And no the above are wrong. You are letting your face slip so easily, have you another ID waiting this time?

I know this might sound a bit harsh but why don't you move into a smaller property?

Why do you need so many rooms just because your disabled? so do disabled people get special treatment?

I am sorry op but if you moved into a smaller property then this wouldn't happen with the situation you are in now.

Because its adapted, there aren't any adapted smaller properties or else I'd agree with you.

Contact your local volunteers bureau and ask if there is a volunteer drivers service in your area.
