Hi
I am setting up my new laptop, had Windows 8 taken off and Windows 7 Prof installed instead. I am trying to get this up and running and its slow!
I had downloaded AVG & Zonealarm. Funny feeling these weren't the best . Any help appreciated please

Downloaded but not installed I hope.
Avast would have been a good place to begin. Do you actually need a separate Firewall?
If you think so, then why not spend the £4 or so on Kaspersky Internet Suite 2014?
Download the Trial version and if you get on with it, purchase the licence before the Trial ends.0 -
Hi
Yes I did download itI wonder if I did a system restore as I have only been working on this for a few hours now??
Nothing lost if I start again?

That shouldn't be slow (but I think you knew that!). Unless you've got multiple anti-virus intalled, or perhaps windows is installing lots of updates, or perhaps you haven't got the right drivers I'd restore back to 8.0

Back to 8 is out of the question, a guy has changed it for me to 7

How did the Avast icon get on there? Did someone already install that for you?
So, start uninstalling.
