flight compensation bmi baby

Options
i flew with a group of 8 of us on 2nd Sept 2008 from Faro to Cardiff.
The flight was delayed for 6 hours due to mechanical failure.
We flew with BMI baby who have since gone bust, the company was bought by BA.
i have emailed BA and sent a letter but after two weeks i did not receive any response.
I contacted BAs general customer relations and they said they have received the letter and will reply however they did say i would need a booking reference and proof of flying.
However this was five years ago and i havent got any of these. All i have is the flight number, date and names of persons in our booking?
What can i do? thank you

    Dear Mr Thomas
Thank you for coming back to us about your claim for EU Compensation.
We are only able to consider a claim if a passenger is in a position to provide evidence of a boarding pass or a copy of the booking confirmation that includes the names of all passengers booked to travel. It is the passenger's responsibility to provide these details when making a claim.
British Airways now deal with all EU Compensation claims on behalf of bmibaby since the airline ceased trading. As an audited department we are unable to consider a claim without a passenger being able to provide this evidence, and I am afraid your claim will be rejected if the requested information is not provided.
I hope our decision will not deter you from flying with us in the future.
    Best regards

BMi baby did not go bust, it was sold by LH to BA/IAG as part of the bmi purchase and was closed down because it was loss making.

Have you got the booking reference on a credit card statement or bank statement showing clearly that you paid for these flights.

Cory Benson has made further comments on this if you do a general forum search.

I am trying find a statement where i paid for it but struggling as it was so long ago.
Wont BA supply me with the booking reference if i request it or pay for it?

BA are very unlikely to have any details as you didn't fly with them. If you have no proof at all, I would think BA might be reasonable in thinking 'we won't pay'. If they didn't, anyone could claim to have been delayed on BMI baby and BA would be defrauded. It would be different if you were claiming from the airline you flew with, but you are not

I had better find my credit card statement then, im guessing there have been others in my position. Has anyone experienced this and resolved it?
