Hello, cant imagine how difficult it must be to give up smoking!
Stick in there with the debt! I managed to pay mine off on Saturday! So now debt free. But not for long as I have just taken out a mortgage with my bf! :)

Whoa a bit harsh there, she has massively made inroads into her debt and changed her focus as someone who also spent every penny when newly married and had no kids I grimace at the amount I wasted but I can't change it but I learnt from it.

    C x

I thought the same as you. Massively harsh judgements while admitting not having read everything. Totally unnecessary.

It's still bad. I'm thinking I might make a 'Stop smoking in 2014 board' or hope that someone else makes one, as I think it will be easier with some support - plus nearly everyone I know smokes, even my mum has started again after 18 months off of them!! :(

    Also thinking that in 2014 I need to start losing weight...very seriously!! In 2008 I was a size 12...Now I'm pushing a 20 :o
This sounds a lot like me a couple of years ago. I'm now (according to my app) 2y 8 months 1 day smoke free, £7,600 better off. And about 63lbs lighter. It is absolutely do-able.

For the record, I tried and failed to give up smoking a number of times and eventually used NRT (inhalators for me, but whatever works). My motivation was house shopping - I worked out that over a 25 year mortgage term I'd spend £62,500 smoking. That's enough for an extra bedroom ;)

For the first 3 months after stopping I didn't even think about my weight and just accepted that I'd have to deal with it afterwards. Too much at once dooms you to failure! Also, I found the first few weeks incredibly difficult - smoking was all I could think about. But I promise you, it gets easier with time.

    Hang in there :)

Hi vikki! Congrats on becoming debt free!! That's absolutely fantastic :j :j
Congrats on getting your mortgage as well, looks like you are off too a brilliant start for 2014! Hopefully someday soon I will get to that point as well, I plan to stick at it for sure though! *puts on dfw determined face* :p

Thank you for posting angry bear! That gives me a lot of hope that I can also stop smoking after...I've given up counting how many times of trying now - and not gain too much more weight in the mean time :rotfl:
You've done wonderful to stay off of them for so long and seeing how much you've saved by not smoking in that time must be a great motivation not too pick it back up again! Are you ever tempted too? 2014 I WILL stop...or drive myself insane trying!! lol

Occasionally, but (and this is a big BUT) it's easy to put it out of my mind and within a few seconds I forgotten all about it. It's not like the early days where a craving felt impossible to ignore, so don't worry when you hear people say "I've been stopped for years and I still get cravings" - it's NOT the same ;).

    Thanks angry bear!
My sister says pretty much the same thing - she stopped around 2-3 years ago now (my older one stopped 4-5 years ago, but I don't talk to her as much) and says she still has cravings sometimes...but they're more just like random thoughts of how it would be nice but not a real craving, like the ones in the beginning when you first stop?...I just focus on the negatives more - like my mum, who stopped for 18 months and is fully on them again, even though she's STILL using the e-lite as well!! :rotfl: I really need to change my mind set more I think into I CAN DO rather than keep thinking I'm just doomed to be a failure!

Yay happy Friday everyone!! - and it's finally payday!! :j
Managed to keep that £10 sitting in my current account til today, so I had £883.53 and I've allocated most of the monies that I needed too and paid £403.53 off of my cc taking me to £2588.18 :j:j:j
Haven't got my statement yet for December though, but I have another pay before the end of the month - 27th Dec!
So far paid this month to cc - £597.93 - well within target to pay £750 this month :D
Still have £90 in the current account to cover pups insurance, netflix, lovefilm and the 'just in case' which I know I won't need, I just like having it there as a safety thing xD
I even had £20 left over in my personal spends account....don't think that's EVER happened before!! I bought tobacco today as well, 50g and with the papers/filters, came to £18.90 and hoping to make that last til the end of the year!!! *fingers crossed*

Received my giffgaff sim today and registered my PAC code :j hopefully should have my old number back by monday/tuesday as well!
I'm excited to be saving around £30 a month, but t-mobile called me and said the best they could do to match it was a rolling contract for £15 a month which is unlimited everything 0.o Though I don't really use my minutes much tbh and don't need unlimited everything - so still saving £3 a month :D Also paid for from my personal spends account...which will be used for ANY 'wants' not 'needs' - I want a phone, don't really NEED one :D
Annoyed I will still have to pay another t-mobile bill for December and January as well...even tho I won't be using their network for the next 30 days!!
Nothing exciting to report for today - will be a stay at home NSD.
Tomorrow I'm going to meet up with a friend for drinks and some more shopping so won't be a NSD but hoping not to go crazy - will take £30 and leave my cards at home so I won't have a choice :D

    So...I've been stood up! :D
Well...not really. I was supposed to meet my 'friend' at my house @ 2pm and go shopping. At 3.40pm I still hadn't heard from her so I called her...and she went shopping with another friend!!! She said she would come over after she was done but I told her not to bother and hung up on her. If she'd have called me before 2 and said her plans had changed, I wouldn't have cared but since I sat here waiting, I'm really annoyed!
    Am I over reacting? 0.o
    Oh well, least that's 2 NSD's in a row! :D
