Kicking off Jan with a PAD to the CC of £7.58, taking me to £2393.64 - Looking forward to next Fridays payday when I will be able to knock it under the £2k mark! :j
New year hasn't gotten off to the best start however - I went to my best friends for NYE. She said if I made my way there on the train, to give her a call when I'm at the station and she will come pick me up...I get to the station and call her...only for her to tell me that she's cooking and can I take a cab!! I was really annoyed because NY = double fare, so I was tempted to just turn around and go home but I called a cab anyway...for just little over a 5 minute drive it was £13.80!!! On the upside though - She did make me some Dolma which I had for dinner last night and had enough to bring for lunch today and sent me on my way with lots of birthday cake, some eternal romance perfume and a pretty pearl necklace...so I can't be mad
Now I have £26.20 to last me until next Friday...and still have to go for my pizza date this Sunday!
I had £27.58 in my current account - paid the £7.58 to the cc but thinking I will need to 'borrow' that £20 from myself until the 10th - After the 10th though, things should be a lot better
Currently on day 2 of not smoking - All good so far! and 2 NSD's in a row! :TSaved so far - £28,890.97

Happy Friday! :hello:
Not a whole lot of anything to report today - Still waiting for payday next Friday. Today is NSD #3 and No smoking day #3 :j :j
It's surprising how fun it is challenging myself to see how long I can go without spending anything, Although tbh, it's not much of a challenge since I don't really need anything!
Struggling with the no smoking thoughMUST NOT GIVE IN!!

You are doing well! Keep it up! And I know from experience that ex-boyfriend stalking is harder to give up than smoking! I'll fill you in on that one day

Sealed Pot Challenge No. 2860 -
Hi Noodle :hello: Thank you for the encouragement and I look forward to hearing about your story one day (soon) ahaha and I know you are right - I haven't looked him up since the 31st but it's been quite torturous resisting...and trying to give up stalking, while stopping smoking AND dieting...I feel like I'm on another road to crash and burn somewhere but I know I can do this - the amount of pep talks I need to give myself throughout the day is crazy and I've replaced them with another addiction for nicorette mints. I constantly have one in my mouth now and I think they've burnt a hole in my gum or something  but now I'm on NSD #4 :T I'm going to take my dog for a looooong walk (leaving the purse at home
) to keep myself occupied, mind off of cigs, get some exercise for me and pup, then I'm going to come home and plonk myself in front of the sims to keep occupied xD Whatever works..

Today has been a good day - I was expecting it to be a high spend day as I was meeting up with a friend for pizza - but what I didn't realize was that she meant she was going to be making the pizza herself at her house :rotfl: I got there nearly an hour early to meet her though so I ended up wasting £3.50!! on a coffee while I waited, but I'm still happy as it means I don't need to 'borrow' any money from myself
So the diet went out of the window today, starting with a fry up my dad made this morning of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and cheese on toast, then the pizza and chocolate fudge sundae with my friend - feeling like I've undone all the work I did this week eating healithy
5th day of not smoking though, so it's not all bad!!
I was still pleased at managing 4 NSD's in a row though and think I will aim for 20 overall in January!Saved so far - £28,890.97

What a miserable and dreary Monday morning
Just bought my travel card for the month as it's due to expire on Wednesday and got lucky as I managed to buy it before the inflated prices are about to hit! :T Also bought closer magazine from last week and a packet of chewing gum - spending £139.50
I still need to go to sainsbury's on my break and buy some coffee, juice and apples, so not a NSD today unfortunately!
I'm a bit worried as I went to boots last Tuesday and spent £16 something on my cashcard (spending acc) and 6 days later...it's still not showing on my online banking?? So I'm confused whether I actually spent on my card or paid with cash OR it's just taking a really long time to come out to try and confuse me so that I spend it and end up with a bank charge :mad:Saved so far - £28,890.97

Hi domayne Just been reading your dairy. I must say i know where you are coming from about giving up the diet coke its not easy. I was hooked on coke (that's coca cola note the other coke lol ) for a long time i only ditched it due to having having constant tooth aces to be honest it really really bad for teeth bones etc... plus it has a ingredient called aspartame which study's have showed it can lead to cancer and varies other problems try a search engine and see
Huge congrats on the no smoking that again is not easy my father smoked for a long time and found it really difficult to give up especially if you have people around you that smoke but everyday you don't smoke you save a LOT of money. I dont smoke but i had to go buy some cigs for a mate of mine pack of 20 i couldn't believe the price on them and he buys a pack of 20 every day people who smoke are paying a crazy amount of money for something that's killing them its madness
I also live at home with my mum and dad (im 24) I can honestly say kids at home need to take full advantage of living with their parents me included that's because this is the only time were we can save a lot of money as everything is shared between siblings and mum and dad i know this as my brother lived at home until he was 30 years old and manged to save £29,000 over 9 years last year he bought his new house we had a little pep talk about how he manged to do it he said the trick is to ask your self do i need it or do i want it. A lot of the time we buy things that we don't really need also don't tie your self in to things for eg.. car finance (novelty wears off after a while and deprecation is a killer) mobile, phone contracts, buy now pay later etc.... that way you don't have to worry of finding the cash to pay for things
Sorry that's not aimed at you its just some info for every one including me to consider its been a brill read going through your thread i will follow it religiously.“People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. We want the biggest house, fanciest car, and we don't mind paying the sky high mortgage to put up that show. We sacrifice our biggest assets our health and time, We feel happy when we see people look up to us and see how successful we are”

Hi ratrace! haha yeah I'm pretty sure this addiction to coke will be the end of me xD I'm fully aware of aspartame though...and that the phosphorous in it can thin your bones, and what it does to your teeth. To be honest, my teeth are pretty bad at the moment since I haven't been to the dentist for some years
...even knowing all of this though, I can't seem to stop completely
I haven't been drinking it while I'm at work for a while now - although I did get some pepsi max yesterday because it was on sale, usually I drink the robinsons squash...which also has aspartame in itlol
Thanks about the no smoking - Today is day 7! :T
I'm not feeling too great about it though as I seem to be quite grumpy for the last few days and it just gets harder and harder...the longest I've ever gone without one is 18 days so I won't get too excited until I pass at least a month xD
Your right about the cost though - I was paying £7.15 a day!!
£50.05 a week
£2609.75 a year
!!!!!
My mum was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis about 3 years ago and they told her she had to stop smoking and drinking (she was a VERY heavy drinker/smoker) and really, I didn't think she would be able to do it because I couldn't remember my mum not being drunk without a cig in her hand...since then, she hasn't drank at all and she stopped smoking for 18 months...unfortunately she did start smoking again about 5-6 months ago which does make it a bit harderMy dad still drinks but he has never been a smoker - Luckily I never inherited that alcoholic gene
I think why I've never saved is that I've never been in a hurry to move out of my parents house - Even when I was younger and my relationship with them was really terrible, I liked living there - and weird as it may seem to some people, I liked looking after them...back in the day, they really needed it! Like I said they were alcoholics and my mum would do stuff like fall asleep with chip pans on and was always setting things on fire while my dad just slept obliviously to things and I felt like I needed to be there
As they got old though, they got much better - my mum doesn't drink at all, my dad does but doesn't get slaughtered like he used too, now he just potters about and loves being in the kitchen - 10 years ago, it would have been a miracle to find him in there!! I bought a dog early this year for my mum really, because I thought it would occupy her and give her something to focus on and she absolutely adores him - we all do, but I'm very aware due to them both having bad health - they won't live forever and I need to prepare as one day I will need to look after myself, but I don't mind living at home til I'm 40 really lol
I do hate thinking about how much I could have saved over the years because I've always made decent money with very little expenses....but when I first started working, I was very into clubbing, the other kind of coke, wasting money on holidays, buying clothes etc...the usual things 19 year olds waste their money on lol, then as I get older and was in a long term relationship it was gambling and games because I was just at home a lot and we didn't really go out...It wasn't until July this year that I though...what the heck have I been doing for all these years?! Like I'd thought it before but it was a dim echo in the back of my head, Now though I just can't wait to get this debt paid and start saving!! I'm currently paying around £800 a month to my debts and fully intend to keep on saving that once I've paid it off!!
Sorry for rambling, I realize my post is quite long
Nothing to report on the money front today, It will be my 5th NSD for Jan as I left my empty purse at home anyway xD
I DID make my Dr's appointment yesterday though, but the nearest date I could get was Jan 27th @ 6.40pm :cool:Saved so far - £28,890.97
