I really hope I don't go back! :rotfl: To be honest though, I really don't think I will...something feels different this time, like before I've wanted to clear it off...just so it's not there and doesn't get out of control but now I want to clear it so I can start saving and DO something - Like save for a mortgage! :p
Now I get a kick out of paying my card off and making PAD's...I actually find that FUN! 0.o Like last month when I got my statement, I made my usual £400 payment...then made £121.02 in pad's throughout the month...so far, I haven't got my statement yet but I've made payments of £194.40 :D
I did mention I had an addictive personality.....xD
That's good that you have a supportive network of friends that keep you sane! It's also much easier to put on a brave face/mask over the internet - Most people do online I've found, but if we could all be as free/open irl...I think the world would be a much better place!

heh so - today has not been a no spend day! I ended up buying some cigs. bad bad dom :(:( and that's life! magazine!
I'm thinking I might do what my friend suggested and stop trying to quit until new year - I know over xmas and new year, I'm doomed to failure anyway since I will be drinking and quite a few of my family smoke and there will be a lot of temptation....I know - there I go with the justification thing again but...I only bought 10 and I'm thinking I will buy some tobacco and just smoke rollies as it's -

    1 - cheaper
2 - annoying to keep having to roll them, so I will smoke less

It's still bad. I'm thinking I might make a 'Stop smoking in 2014 board' or hope that someone else makes one, as I think it will be easier with some support - plus nearly everyone I know smokes, even my mum has started again after 18 months off of them!! :(

    Also thinking that in 2014 I need to start losing weight...very seriously!! In 2008 I was a size 12...Now I'm pushing a 20 :o
Maybe I'll impose a 'crap tax' on myself...if I smoke/binge eat crap, then I have to pay some kind of fine...haven't really worked the ins and outs of that one out yet but seems like a demotivator if I have to pay 'tax' for every cig I smoke :rotfl: Will look into that...
Roll on Friday - Payday!! Got my payslip yesterday so will spend today allocating said pay although I don't have much to pay out from this pay so hoping to throw most of it at the CC!

  • Wow look at you and all you're progress, absolutely fantastic and don't beat yourself up about the smoking it takes time to crack it, if your mum was up for it why not support each other when you're ready.

Well done, enjoy your gorgeous perfume!

Thanks Chrysalis! I don't feel too guilty about the perfume tbh - It smells absolutely divine and it can be my xmas gift to myself :p
I won't be buying anything else for myself until debt is completely gone though! :naughty: I've been playing around with numbers and if I can be absolutely strict with the finances, I can have this debt cleared by the end of March! :j :j

  • I can't read (but I will in a bit) all 4 pages of responses, so will focus on my first Impressions.

    1) You get a !!!! load of money and spunk it up the wall.
    2) You have no reason to change.
    3) You have nothing planned for your future, no real goals or aims in life, and therefore ....see 1 and 2
    4) You have enough money for a family of 4 to live on. The same family would be paying a mortgage, paying all the bills, trying to save for a holiday, trying to save enough for school uniforms, desperately trying to keep the car going (which they NEED to get to work) and quite frankly you should be shocked with your privious attitude.

Can I suggest that in order to fix this, you need a 5 year plan for your life, and also, you need to do a statement of affairs not for you but for your neice's family. See how people who have grown up and moved on from sponging (because the pittiful rent you pay your parents is also an insult to them by the way) off family.

Get a grip, decide where you are going and go and do it.

  • Whoa a bit harsh there, she has massively made inroads into her debt and changed her focus as someone who also spent every penny when newly married and had no kids I grimace at the amount I wasted but I can't change it but I learnt from it.

As to your post before....you are absolutely right! :o
I'm here because of that exact reason - for the last 10 years, I HAVE been throwing my money at a wall (and various other nefarious places!) and wanted to make changes! I have kind of somewhat formulated a plan though. Although I am not perfect, I am still slipping a lot, in particular with the smoking - I do feel like having this diary has helped me a lot (even in the darker moments!) and the advice I've been given has been much appreciated and invaluable - even when I have not accepted it with much grace. I have been able to look back and see where I come across as...childish, belligerent and just down right stupid sometimes but I am making progress I feel...though it's slow going sometimes.

    Thank you chrysalis *hugs*
It's ok though, it was actually reading other diaries on here and seeing that some families of 4 or 5 people live on the same wage as me or some even less and seeing they had to pay rent/bills/food etc before they even got to themselves that made me take my head out of my !!! A bit! I've never been in a position where I've had to worry about money and though my parents don't work - they own their house and have minimal costs. Like I've mentioned I HAVE tried to increase the amount I give. ..my mum won't take it. I can admit that growing up I was a bit spoilt. ..pretty much anything I asked for I was given and never really had to watch pennies. Even now my mum doesn't care and will leave taps running/every light on in the house/waste endless amounts of food and IM the one who has started preaching to HER! :rotfl:
I have fully understand and acknowledged that I had a crap attitude towards money...but nothing I can do will bring those 10 years back, can only make sure I don't have another 10 years of the same! :)
