Morning DFW and INOD!! *waves back*
I'm super happy at the amount I've paid off this month, but I think it helped with my travel card falling on an awkward date and not having to buy a new one til the 8th Feb (Get paid again on the 7th) so it feels like I saved £140 and got a free month of travel :D
I still had that £40 left in the personal spends account from the last 2 weeks - Now have £180 in there and the dog groomers said it should only cost £32.50...providing he doesn't bite and isn't really matted...which he doesn't and he isn't, but the last time we took him to the groomers, he HATED it and wouldn't stay still at all so the lady couldn't do anything and she said to try again in a few weeks...this is a different groomers so hopefully he'll behave :o
Also have you guys seen the new 'something sweet' magazine? I've been buying it since it came out 2 weeks ago and I think I'm going to make my sister a sweet hamper with truffles, fudge and fondant mice. They had some really cute boxes in them so I'll wrap them up, box them nicely and put them in a basket or something - so her bday gift will be pretty cheap :D
Also 24 days not smoking :j - I feel like this is saving me a LOT of money!! Apart from my blip last week a few cravings here and there, I'm finding it surprisingly easy with the mints but my throat and gums feel really sore and shredded since they are quite harsh and I think from March (if I'm still off the cigs :p) I will need to try and wean myself off of those - No good replacing one addiction for another! :rotfl:

Has anyone ever taken their dog to the groomers and stayed to watch? I'm seriously traumatized after the cries and yelps I heard from my pup today :(
His fur had a few knots in that had to be brushed out and I think the groomer was quite rough....If you had a huge knot in your hair, you would hold the top so you don't pull the skin right? The groomer was holding his leg so he couldn't jump off the table and yanking the knots out and my poor pup was screaming his poor heart out :(
Is this normal? Am I being over sensitive? I'm super protective of my pup, which might be weird but I don't care, I hated seeing him in pain. Then he 'plucked his ears' to get all of the wax out and by this point I had to leave the shop because I couldn't listen to the cries coming from him :(
He looks beautiful now and I can actually see his face, but he's been in a bad mood since we got back and itching a lot.
Spent £39.49 at the groomers which I paid for on my card so made a £0.51 PAD to the credit card.
I see my total as £1505.17 but my online banking is showing as £1500.68 so...I don't know if I made a PAD that I don't remember
Went to oxfam and bought 3 'new' books for £2.97 from the change that was in my purse.

  • Our dog doesn't go to the groomers very often :o it's so expensive that we try to do what we can here at home and he gets sent probably 3-4 times a year max. (he's bathed a lot and brushed though so the matting doesn't get too bad) but i've never stayed with him whilst there and i've never heard them complaining about him so i'm not really sure what goes on ...but I do know that he usually comes back in a good mood and bounding about. We tried a few groomers before settling with this lady, she was really nice and also picks him up and drops him off so easy for me ;) I pay £28 for him to be done....is yours a big dog?

I think I would be tempted to try elsewhere, if she was that rough with you in the room I dread to think what would happen if you weren't there?

That's what I was thinking...It was like a torture chamber! lol, Tie them up in a 'noose' and yank the hair out :( Hair was flying everywhere before he even started cutting it!
This is only the second time he's been to the groomers, First was in September and he was sheared but his hair grows really fast and now it's so long we was tying the hair on his head in a bobble lol.
He is bathed every week and brush his hair so he looks lovely, but when we felt deep there was 3 big knots we were scared to brush out. I don't think I'll take him to the groomers again until summer and just get it sheared again! What kind of dog do you have DFW?
Mine is a shih tzu and he's really tiny

  • Gorgeous pup. I'm not surprised you couldn't endure watching him whimpering. I'm sure one of the animal charities could say what the process should be.

Whimpering I can handle...He whimpers when he wants someone to play with him and no-one is playing...It's the guilt trip :p
These were like wild cat screams...and I don't know if he was really hurting or he was just playing up more because I was sitting there and he was wanting me to 'rescue' him? Which I don't think because he was fine at the cutting and washing parts but the brushing...I don't know, I don't think you'd brush a humans hair that rough so why a dog?? He can feel things as well and he's still only a baby :(
Either way, he's not going back to the groomers until he needs to be sheared, I'll just learn to groom him myself :p

Had a bit of a spendy day today!
My work boots have had their day I think! Both heels have the backs hanging off of them so I went on the new look website to find a new pair and ended up buying 2 pairs - 1 for work, 1 for home, a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, spending £64.97 :o
I hardly EVER buy new clothes though, the last thing I bought was those jeans that didn't fit back in November and have now gone missing so...I don't feel too guilty tbh, It came from the personal spends account so I'm not hurting any debt busting progress! ^_^

You haven't killed my diary either, I'm just very lazy at updating :rotfl:

That doesn't sound right at all with the dog groomers :( poor wee pup. We have a long-haired collie and groom him ourselves, as long as you do it every day I would have thought he'll be fine till summer.

I know how traumatizing those experiences can be though. We took ours to a vet who handled him completely the wrong way. My doggy was so nervous and the vet was pinning him down and struggling with him until he fell off the table. He was so upset by it.

We quickly got a new vet who handles him much better, reassures him and doesn't fight with him and he is good as gold for her. It's just about finding the right people who can do their job properly.
