I think I have done quite well and got a mixture of greetings that will suit each recipient...but I cant help feeling that its a lot to spend on a few bits of card that just wish someone a happy birthday!!!!

But is it really 'a lot'?

You've spent £1.33 (not 67p as previously posted) per card - which, if you've got nice cards that will be appreciated by the recipients, is pretty good.

I guess it only seemed a lot because you bought so many cards at the same time.
I can understand why you have done that as it's often hard to find decent birthday cards over the Christmas period but if you'd bought 3 a week over 5 weeks you probably wouldn't even have noticed the £2.00 you spent each time.

I agree with that yes...but how do you feel when no one sends you a card to acknowlege the day?

personally like I said I dont care that you dont spend much...but I would like the day recognised.

I appreciate everyone views birthdays differently...but surely its about being consistant...I have one relation who cant see the point in sending me a card possibly for the reasons youve stated...but thats certainly not the case when her special day comes round!

I get about 5 cards from family and close friends. I don't really care, to be honest. I'm 47 not 7.

Well... as long as you enjoy your birthday thats what really counts...

It is each to their own...I'm not 47 or 7 but each birthday that comes along is very special to me!

I agree with your points...but not your maths...15 cards... and yes they will be appreciated I'm sure

I agree with your reasoning...but im going to pick your maths and say £20 for 15 cards.....not 67p per card.....

But actually youre right even at £1.33 per card its not a lot to spend

You're right, for some bizarre reason I misread your post and worked it out on £10 for 15 cards.

But if you're the type of family who follow the tradition of sending cards to mark birthdays, what choice do you have?

You can't alter the fact that birthdays come thick and fast during Dec/Jan.

indeed a point I made reference to in my original post when I said that even my husband and our 2 children also are included in the festive birthdays.

My mum and dad were both christmas offspring had 2 of their 3 children around christmas....and all of us marrired christmas children...and then went on to produce our own children largely around that time too...

clearly poor planning....but hey at least I'm not worrying about birthdays the rest of the year.
